    Thanks for the head up!

With the help of PHPMyAdmin and some SQL queries we find the following:

    IP With owner e-mail :

    172.16.3.61
    61.11.18.184
    61.11.18.184
    125.18.50.132
    61.17.198.112

    IP With owner e-mail

    61.11.18.184
    172.16.3.61
    125.18.50.131
    61.17.198.112
    125.18.50.151

    IP With owner e-mail

    172.16.3.61
    125.18.50.155
    125.18.50.131
    125.18.50.156
    125.18.50.142
    61.17.198.112
    125.18.50.134
    125.18.50.150
    61.17.198.112

With Excel unique filter we get these ones:

    172.16.3.61
    61.11.18.184
    125.18.50.132
    61.17.198.112
    172.16.3.61
    125.18.50.131
    125.18.50.151
    125.18.50.155
    125.18.50.156
    125.18.50.142
    125.18.50.134
    125.18.50.150

I have www.addurl-free.com/que.php but by changing the SQL line I found all his sites with all info. I checked some of them and yes - spam.

So, for all phplinkdirectory owners I suggest you just open your PHPMyAdmin and run the following SQL query:

I did it and it removed 48 links from the que and some which was mistakenly approved.

I don't think it is done by software as I require "Full Description: (180 - 255 characters)"

I saw one link that was a dir and maybe some others are perhaps ok, BUT I AM NOT SUPPORTING A SPAMMER.

    EDIT:

Actually I was curious and did the following SQL query:

To see if there was any other links and 1 showed up. A totally ok site http://www.novori.com submitted to my dir 15 november. The e-mail used was links[at]allindians.com - just for your info if you wanted to know ...

    great thread.

    I've got 2 cases similar:

    1. Some guy insists on submitting & re-submitting each and every individual page of his/her site.

    2. Some guy keep resubmitting the same site, although IP changes every time.

    3. Is for completely irrelevant sites (make it hard, grow larger, watch it grow, play with it after it grows, etc...)

I've even placed a text verification system, but no-go!

Pretty amazing what people will do...so your telling me there is a guy out there who bothers filling out (or even autofilling) and then doing the whole image verification thing for every page in his site day after day...I dunno is it just me or is this fucking hilarious ;)

Im saying this cause I had a similiar experience with a vnitnamese guy signing up for my free hosting service, I had told many times that I dont except Vietnamese sites but he never quit, at one point I was receiving ten signups a day from this guy all with the same name but different text like the description of the website ad this is not a small form it would take a 3-4 minutes to fill in this form, well I got so sick of it that I got a vietnamese girl I know to write him a letter telling him to F*** OFF, but he never seemed to understand so I gave up trying to deal with him and I opted to renevate the site with blacklisting and IP bans and Im still in the process of doing it...

Here are some of his e-mails, he started writing pretty funny stuff in his description of what he would do with the site check it out...

Then he tried to trick me by pretending he's English with some bad Yoda jibberish....

Imagine hundreds of these sign ups all with different descrptions, and he never got an account...lol...some people just need a hobby

That is another very scummy technique, daredashi. He's willing to build up PR by offering free submissions and then when he gets the directory going dump all the people who helped him get it going?

The more I learn about this guy (or is it guys?), the more slimy and scummy he turns out to be.

Way to go JimW - great information and assistance.

daredashi - more good, but disheartening information; pricks like this should be caned in public like that little American bastard in South Korea a few years back who got caught spray painting cars - the U.S. media was all in an uproar; but guarnatee ya the little shit didn't do that again.

    Hello.

Just wanted to tell everybody that all the sites mentioned above are my sites.

But the submissions are not done by me. We have hired a SEO company in India to do the SEO optimization work for us. But to be frank I was not aware of all these spam looking issues. I will talk to the company today and most probabily you will not have any more issues like this.

I am very sorry for whatever happened.

    Regards
    -Kams

They are sometimes very difficult to read. I've had to submit 2 or 3 times before, really gets irritating when you lose the submission info and have to start over again:(

Those were probably run by the PHPLD script. The image verification is extremely difficult to read, forcing the direcoroy owner to not use this feature and possibly be spammed, or using it and pissing off his users. I believe that in the next release of the script, due out in a couple weeks hopefully, that this problem will be fixed.

The sites in question were apparently submitted manually so the question of visual verification is irrelevant.

Competitors?! You mean other mass spammers?

Anyway, this fella claims we were all spammed with his sites without his knowledge by some rogue SEOer he hired. If that's the case I won't hold it against the guy....as long he helps in exposing that so-called SEO expert. There are ways to teach such people a lesson.

I have to agree, but we did it because it cut spam down to almost nothing. When we did it however, I made sure to overcome my pet peeve which has to do with this cryptic image verification systems where it is near impossible to tell what the characters say. I think that is half the problem. When the image looks like crap, it makes it difficult to get it right the first time.

We do offer bulk submission however, and of course you can always email us as well. Anything we can do to make the process easy on the end user the better. However the image verification does work well cutting down spam. YMMV.

Me too, but as a fellow webmaster can respect the reason behind the request. I like to think of it as more time for them to add OUR non-automated requests to their directory. :D
