Rob/Pheonix, does this mean that you can't modify the TPL or PHP files? I was considering taking a look at phpLYNX but if I can't modify little things here and there, what's the point?

    That is correct.

it will look something similar to this:
and you won't know wtf is going on.

But we know WHY its like that. Stripping other peoples scripts and coding is frowned upon, not to mention the lawsuits without proper GPL indicative info and the likes... so of course it has top be encrypted

plain and simple and in short phpStynx, literally.

and just to show you here is the edit link see it uses ioncube so you can't go in and change files that you need to change

Well, that 100% clinches it for me. You know me Rob, I know enough about php to just be dangerous but if I can't change some stuff that I want changed, then I wouldn't use it. It's like not being able to be an administrator on your own computer!

No wonder the script has to have mods built into it. If you cant mod or customise a script its pretty useless. I hate encryption of a public script like that. Powerful expensive scripts like vbulletin are open to edit, free scripts like wordpress are too.

From a programmers point of view i find that pretty useless....

Most scripts that use tpl systems need php files modifying too when changing the code or adding extra features. Is this possilbe with phplynx?

You wouldn´t know what´s going on as your a wannabe pretending to know things they don´t know, no you can´t play with the code FACT. But you can play with the template files and if you know what your doing can pretty much make the script do what you want.

Pathetic, you fallen out with phpld and now feel like taking on phplynx, tut tut.

Wrong, your showing the php code not the tpl files which CAN be edited. Gang up on phplynx week, Yippee, I get to justify a fightback. ;)

Exactly. I cant customise it properly. Thats the point that is being discussed, not whether we can edit some text, layout or some logic in tpl files....

As a long time PHP programmer who has developed applications / scripts both open source, encoded and obfuscated I can understand why the phpLynx team chose to use IonCube to protect their work.

However I can also say that this would be the main reason I would never go near the script. I'm not very trustful and I don't like using scripts that I cannot check out and make sure they arn't doing anything they shouldn't (and no I ain't accusing phpLynx of this, just stating my preference).

Plus I need to be able to change the code, I don't think I have ever used a script out of the box without finding something I wanted to edit or play around with. :D

The Pheonix, maybe you should speak to the owners and see if they would consider a non encoded version at a premium price? I know of some other script developers that offer this. Anyway, just a thought.

Oh, and by the by, the owners are aware that IonCube can be decoded? I was quite pissed off when I found one of my Zend Encoded applications had been decoded.... there are actually sites now offering these decoding services on a per PHP file basis

So can I, nobody wants you work stolen. But why do it when others dont bother? I've not seen any other top notch forum or blog software encoded.

I like to check them out anyway, see if i can speed things up or improve little things. I hate scripts where i cant view whats going on..

Same here, its good to be able to play around with it.

I was considering using phplynx, until i found it was encoded. If I could take a decoded version for a little extra, i would do. Im not the kind of guy thats gonna try sell it...

And that was the 'whole point' of the post you dip!

you CAN'T do anything with the php and therefore 'phpstynx' truly sucks. phpld is way better than the garbage you preach. See, i recommend phpld over phpstynx. why? because it *IS* better, so your whole 'fallout' fantasy is moot.

Now, if you don't like it, then too bad.

Also could care less about playing with tpl's, when its the CORE functionality(e.g. - php) that I like to edit/modify.

So YOU need to stop pretending like you know anything because you are the wannabe poser.

C'mon Rob, everyone here knows phpLD is your bread and butter. I would find it surprising if you ever said anything negative about it - unless you were offering a mod to fix it. ;)

Since you like to play with words, phpLD = lame duck. Lame duck in that it and it's many supporters are continuing to promote the same tired and unimaginative ideas that Google has said for months they do not support.

This thread should have been no more than 2 or 3 posts long. The original question and the answer. This my script is better than yours baloney that followed is really tiresome.

YMC, phpLD is NOT my bread n butter. Maybe yours, but not mine. (my BnB would be the rich women with 100's bills grabbing my crotch when stuffing it down my g-string) bwahahaha

(when i do install any of my mods, i *do* fix bugs phpld has no charge. that is out of the kindness and respect for my peers)

Also, do a little research on what I have had to say about phpLD and then you can come back an eat your own words.

I stated facts on phpstynx encryption. nothing more, nothing less.

I like myphpdirectory, site-sift and phpld. I dont like esyndicat or phpstynx.

Rob, I'm glad you have such profitable hobbies.

I've seen the other threads with how you feel about David. No doubt with justification based on what has been discussed around here. That doesn't mean that you don't make more than a little spending money from phpLD to go along with that cash around your waist.

phpld isnt as profitable for the 3rd party modders as some people may suspect. Besides, 80% of phpld are my ideas(and i've been told more are getting ripped come 3.3). So, if anything i should despise the script, but i am always unbiased and true with what i say, and based on my opinion, it is better.

As far as extra; of course anything extra is a plus, but it's not much. absolutely nothing compared to what i have put into my projects out of my own pockets.
(i did post a screenshot a while ago, but took it down)
