Directory Software Liek DMOZ

Discussion in 'Scripts' started by iamsgf, Mar 20, 2007.

About 2 years ago I was looking into directory scripts that was like DMOZ. I found one called LM or something and it seemed pretty good. But I never bothers to follow anything up.

Well I have a bit of spare time on my hands again and am going to look at the directory scene.

Can anyone tell me what open source or free scripts are out there that are worth while getting?

    Ta!

You're posting in the wrong forum, but the answer is:

    1. eSyndicat

    2. phpLD

    3. SiteSift

    eSyndicat has that capability.

    I believe phpLD also does.

    I'm not sure about SiteSift.

I never used eSyndicate, but phpLD and Site-Sift don't have that option. I am using both scripts for my directories but I never seen that option in any phpLD directory.

Are you talking about the free versions?

I'm pretty sure that phpLD had that option at least at version 3.0 - and I believe it was earlier in version 2.x. But those were the paid / licensed versions.

I think the same is true for eSyndicat which I'm using now, although I haven't tried to set up an @category personally.

I am not talking about the symbolic categories. It is about the "See also" categories in DMoz. Sorry for the confusion.

Okay. I know that feature exists in eSyndicat Pro. I cannot recall if it's available in phpLD or SiteSift. Maybe email the developers?

You're not asking for an opinion - you're asking about physical limitations of the script, if I read your question correctly.
