This is strange, I have never seen this kind of problem before. Are you running any mods or anything that requires extensive use of SQL queries for your directory?

this is why you shouldnt be on shared hosting. phpLD is fairly resource intensive but few realise it. Every page has many mysql connections open, so a few users browsing the site causes problems.

Shared hosting can only be so cheap when 95%+ of the users barely use any resources. If you use resources then you are a thorn in the hosts side.

Do you have any facts to backup that statement that phpld is resource intensive? I run and host lots of directories most using phpld never seen my server hog cause of phpld .

    Please elaborate mikey.

I doubt it's that resource intensive unless it's very very poorly made (possibility lots of scripts do not know how to optimize sql at all). It should only make one mysql connection (only need one per visitor) and if it uses index properly and does not do any stupid queries it shouldn't be much of a problem.

    Go with VPS Hosting.

It is the right step if dedicated is too expensive.

    I am currently using JaguarPC.

I think it is really just a gamble on shared hosting, I got kicked off site5 for my directories but a friend still has all his there and has never had a problem. I have been with another shared host, budgethost.ca without any problems.
