As most of you know, Gg, Y! & MSN look at many factors in determining whether you operate a web ring (bunch of your sites interlinking), some of those factors include ...

    • Whois Registration Information
    • IP address of host
    • DNS information
    • C-Class identifier (name of server)
    • Adsense (or other) footprints

Now while I don't run a link-farm web ring, I do have tons of sites that I own/operate and more being built every day. It's pretty common knowledge that search engines can possibly devalue links from one of your sites to another (they probably do) by programmatically analyzing the footprints of your server.

Also, domain names are cheap enough, but setting up a different server for each would up the cost exponentially (think $80/year * 20 directories). This is the basis for reselling hosting in the 1st place, pay once - host many.

An obvious way to get around most of the above points would be to trade hosting reseller accounts. An example of this would be I'll host one of your sites and you reciprocate.

Because I'm an upfront kind of guy, there are some drawbacks including ...

    • If you don't pay .. my site goes down
    • You have access to all of my codes

While I'm not interested in someone yanking my scripts and duplicating my sites, I would not put anything important on your server that would kill me if you stole. I'd suggest the same from you though I'm quite trustworthy.

So anyways, I've tooled around with the idea enough to consider doing this for a few future projects. It could be beneficial to anyone ... especially directory owners.

Any interest in this or shall I just forget about the concept?

<<< yes I know this is a dup post I did over in the hosting section, it just seems that this concept would be very beneficial to directory owners ... hence me bringing it to your attention here >>>

c'mon, as thrifty as this bunch is there is absolutely no interest in something like this? Not even a single opinion!

This concept can potentially give you directories with totally different ip addresses and host names and nobody has anything to say. You guys are all about working the system ... where's the love?
