Your comments (in your own words, on any aspects of your directory script) : I've tried many directory scripts out the past four years, both free and paid, including those mentioned in this thread. From cheap to high priced, I've found phpmydirectory to be superior. First, the pros: The Admin control over the whole site is great. Memberships can vary from free to paid and you specify the prices. Several payment merchants to accept from. Completely SQL database driven. Customer support is fast via the site and the forums are very active with many long time users participating in helping the newbies. Try the site demo and get a feel for the options. The cons: Lack of a user manual. If you're not familiar with PHP, SQL and a couple of other things, you will be pulling your hair out just in the installation process alone. However many of the php files can be altered right from the admin panel which is great. Other than that, I love this script. I've seen similiar scripts like this one which lacked many of it's features selling for over $500 dollars. If you want a directory just for fun, this may not be for you, try others. If you're considering running a business, this IMHO is your first stop to look.

This script has all common features, like sending emails, SEF urls, easily customizable. It has facility for adding editors, letter templates for all notifications, reciprocal link checking etc.

It also creates complete directory structure for all categories, subcategories, which is a good feature from SE point, but it took about 60-70MB of space on my website for the link exchange directory that I have installed, so if that can be reduced/avoided, it will be a good script.

Positives:

• Easy to instal

• SE Friendly

• Easy database backup/restore

• looks nice out of the box

Negatives:
My biggest gripes are with the awaiting validation page

• No pagination in the awaiting validation page(it becomes a problem when the que gets big)

• It only shows the bottom level category that a link was submitted (for example, I see that a link was submitted under directories but if I have a lot of categories named directories under different Top level categories I don't really know exactly where the link has been submitted). In my opinion it should show Category:Subcategory:Bottom level category instead of just Bottom level category

• You get redirected at the front page each time you delete a link

• It doesn't give you the description and a direct link for the sites in the awaiting validation page, that means that you have to open a new page or tab to check the description and visit the site

All the above combined make the reviewing process much more time consumming that it should have been imho.

As a conclusion SSL is a very nice script but when the directory starts growing, managing it becomes difficult.

I just hate it, when people leave comments in my reputation, with the names "PP" or "r3", or "try", or "Rob" (i know like 20 Rob's in this forum) or whatever else. How the hell am i supposed to know who's PP ?
