phpLynx is free and has quite a few unique options that come pre-installed with the script like it's captcha system, forced pre-payment prior to submission, and a ton of other things.

The script owner and his programming staff are frequently in the forums and are quite quick in helping folks to get the script up and running.

There is also a paid version with many more features that they are getting ready to release.

Like I have suggested before (in earlier threads asking this same question), whenever you consider using a directory script spend some time in their forum. Look around and look for the big warning signs - are requests from help left unanswered, do the answers given actually solve the problem, what's the ratio of complaints/requests for help to information sharing threads, do the moderators and support staff insult or berate what might be easy or repeated questions, are the solutions to problems offered as mods requiring the hand-editing of multiple files or as full upgrades, etc.

Unfortunately, asking that question in this forum is likely to get you numerous one-line, drive-by type responses supporting one script or another. Search through this area of DP, determine what scripts are out there, start thinking about what you want your site to do, review their support forums and pick one. The good thing is that all of the script owners that frequent this forum do offer migration services (some for free, some for a fee) from one script to another so you are not locked in forever if you decide your first choice isn't working for you.

    Good luck.

    Hi

I use IndexScript(.)com and it has been excellent so far, its free as long as you have a link back to their website. They also have forum where you can post if you have any problems.

The script is updated every 3-4 months.
