Hello, i remember a while back there was a discussion of free scripts to create your own directory...i also remember that there seemed to be a concensus as to which was the "best" script to use, in terms of being search engine/PR friendly. i don't remember which that was, and i can't find the thread...can anyone help me out here?
Definitely look at www.phplinkdirectory.com (note: this is my script) It's free and we have great support, and it quite search engine friendly
If you are looking for SE friendlyness, then this script is the best so far thats free. I'm planning to start a seo niche directory with this script.
Tunning and dvduval are right. Instead of using bizdirectory script try this www.phplinkdirectory.com
great, i've gone ahead and installed it and working on it now, and i posted a support thread in your forum.
i have downloaded a week ago. planning to put one directory with this script. you can have the demo at http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/demo/
Well I have been playing with www.phplinkdirectory.com Must admit it is idiot proof ( trust me Im an idiot ) and the support is tops plus there is lots in the pipe line so well worth everyone having a look THis is what I knocked up in about 45mins Carp Fishing its only a draft but it shows its easy to play with
Looks interesting - seems to be a file missing from the RC3 download pack, though - /libs/adodb/drivers/adodb-db_driver.inc.php
That problem is related to the case (capitalization) of file names getting changed on upload. Take a look especially in the smarty folder (unfortunately we didn't name the files, they are part of the smarty library). Thanks for your support everyone. Just tonight we released revision 43, which includes numerous updates including integration of featured links and the paypal IPN. There are now numerous ways to configure the directory so that you can make money (but only if you set it up that way). If you snoop around here... http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/WebSVN/ ...and have a program that can open tar.gz files you are well on your way to getting the latest version. Note: the upgrading has been created so that it (pretty) easy to keep up with new versions. You can just overwrite the current files and run the /install again and ONLY the ALTER commands are run on your existing database. The only consideration is any template files you may have changed. If the above paragraph seems greek to you, then wait for the Final Release due out in a week or two. Even before hitting final, we have over 500 installs in the first month since the release of version 2.
