Recently Malcolm opened a very interesting thread entitled :- Web directories and the NEW webmaster guidelines http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=356031 malcolm1 Needless to say many varying interpretations of these guidelines will be coming out now and in the near future But with the ever changing algos relevant to search engine indexing We have set up additional text and a jpg on the home page in the lower section of the home page Now I am no way saying this what the guidelines said definitively, but at least its our interpretation for testing At least we are testing, no one will know unless you try, so we will see what is picked up by the spiders (if anything) If you do not experiment you will never know, but at least we are attempting to understand what is in the new guidelines We have included some unique original text and a jpg on the lower section of the home page here :- Business Directory http://www.forplex.com/ We will be run a number of home page variations to see what the reactions are Comments welcome :- Thanks
Thats look fine... Forplex is becoming a complete directory resource - not just a simple directory.. Will be waiting to see the results. Have you did any on-page SEO on that text or jpg image ?
Not yet we are not sure what the guidelines mean so we are just testing Thanks for the comments MeetHere
Everybody knows - Content is the King So its always a good choice to add some content/text.. I am also confused regarding adding images.. Whether to optimize it or not (Can't site baner/logo be considered an image?)
LinksJuice is being re-developed, I saw Malcoms post after once the development was underway. But the new design and concept will definatley meet the unique content guidelines. Pictures, i'm not too bothered with heh
Hello! Well, content is indeed the most important part of a website, so concentrating on it is the best idea for a successfull webpage.
The key is to be respectful towards those visiting your directory, to give them something you can stand behind. Anything you can do to improve is great.
My understanding is that matt cutts was talking about making sure that you use alt tags in all images of your site as well as your banners which might have on other sites. To be honest this is just a standard seo tactic that alot people forget about. Morevore it also helps those who may not be able to see but rely on software which tells them whats on the site. Simple w3c validation.
