I run a free directory, I've spent a lot of time and money on it, the Alexa is 60k, and PR isn't updating. I made the site about 3 months ago. I made another directory a month later, and PR is updating for that and it's getting a PR2 (I did nothing to it). I was expecting at least a PR4 from this directory, and I'm going to be very pissed if it doesn't update. One thing I noticed is when you go to the inner pages and view other sites, the PR for those sites shows up as "n/a", it doesn't show their PR. But the PR for my directory just shows a 0, not "n/a". My question is, what could stop that site from getting updated? I used Google Ban checker tools, and it says the site isn't banned. I get search results in Google. Doesn't make sense...
It's not unusual for G to prevent a site from being indexed, ranking well or gaining PR for no apparent reason. I'm conviced that there are bugs in their algorithms that mistakenly wack some sites. I think David is right about the update not being complete, plus we have seen issues with big discrepancies among different data centers that never seem to synchronize, especially with respect to PR. It looks to me like this update is correcting some of the problems we've seen this year. But I also see sites that are not picking up PR, even though they should be. It is just a little green bar, but that little green bar can mean the difference between the financial success or failure of a directory.
many off us have had this happen. im a pr5 with few inner prs and sleek is backwards with good internal pr and pr0 for the index. I believe we are just stuck till the next update but maybe thier is a chance, though doubtful as all the datacenters are almost done completing their new stats. Doesnt matter just keep working on getting the PR higher even if its another 2-3 months away. thx malcolm
I believe that the PR is going alphabetically, my site with domain that starts wth "g" had PR change - but my site with a domain of "S" and "R" haven't been touched yet. Can anyone else verify this? Like does someone else have a lower alphabet domain that has changed and a higher one that hasn't? - Just my observation... could be complete wrong, hehe
Actually - Malcolm 1, you got BIZ-GIANT DIRECTORY, SLEEK DIRECTORY ~ BIZ-KING DIRECTORY, and ADULT URL DIRECTORY CAn you verify that Adult URL directory, Biz-Giant, and Biz-King got changed (or are currently being changed) and Sleek has not yet changed?
looks like you are completely wrong i have domain begiining with `m` and one with `r` and the r has been updated what worrys me is it only has 3 backlinks to it and my main site that i have spent all my time on has`nt chagned
I have an update pr3 on some inner pages but no change on main page yet. Site new on December, domain name starts with “M†Hopefully should update fully in the next few days.
i got some update on 1 category on www.directorygiant.com www.webspassage.com was showing a sneaky 0 in one datacenter when all others were 5 :/ i dont think the update is near finished
You people are really funny with this alphabetical update... Do you really believe it? Or you just want to believe...? My websites on different letters, those 'A' and 'L' and 'W' are partialy updated like in some 'LOTTO' system. Now it looks like updating stopped. But can't believe it as for some domains I have a homepage of PR=0 and lot of subpgaes with PR=6 and 5... And even subpages are updated randomly. I'm really curious if it ever end.
Thought I was alone. Yeah getting basically nothing on some sites that were promoted and definately within time to get some PR. I'm wondering if we're victims of a PR sandbox for new sites. Maybe it's a changup in the way PR is distributed? Just pretty odd.
Never heard of PR sandbox... Look at www.all4seo.net Homepage is PR=0. Backlinks about 1k. And you can think too much backlinks, too fast...(about 5 months) But then look at internal links on left. First: Tips to be aprooved - PR5 Second: Policies and Agreements - PR0 Third: Directory Sitemap = PR5 etc. All those links created in the same time. No backlinks to subpages. And why one subpage can be PR5, next PR0, next PR5 next PR0.... Total roulette. Anyway I know what to do with all those PR5 ...
i was expecting my PR3 and PR4 sites to move upto to PR5 but it didn't happen so I think this is just a major backlink update with a few PR updates. A good update will happen in the next month or so so wait and watch
