Directory Penalty

I have two directories, in two different languages (one of them is english)
    Both are using esyndicat

They are host in two different countries but using the same adsense account.

I just realized that the PR of both of them drops to 0 (the english used to has PR2 and the other one had PR4) after a recent update.

For one of them (not the english one), it used to be ranked very well for the targeted keywords (on both google and yahoo in my region). And the index page, which is the page with all the categories on it, of this site no longer exists on both google and yahoo.

both directories are free and I didn't sell links on them.

    Does anyone have similar problem?

From my experiences, directories usually gain page rank harder than other type of web sites, and they drop page rank mush more easier.

Send me the details of your two directories, i will take a look and let you know if i catch notice something.

With directories one thing you have to be especially careful about is which websites you approve. If you link to any bad neighborhood websites, this could get your website penalized. Sometimes a website will look good when they first submit. Then a month later they could change their strategies and use some black hat techniques. Or their domain could expire only to be picked up by a spammer.

Yes I think I will add a nofollow tag first. Since my directory is not catering for websites which seek link juicy.

It's normal. Many directories lost pr after the last PR update.

In fact, I don't mind if the PR drops. But the problem is that the index page of one of the site is deindexed on both yahoo and Google. And it is only the index page...
