I am a directory owner who does not know how to utilize submitters e-mails There is one renowned Chinese SEO company who is bombarding my directories with automated submissions -- all of them reciprocals. I had to ban over 100 domains - as they just keep doing it all the time even if I reject them repeatedly. The reason for rejection is obvious --- They submit a Jewelry site in internet category or an SEO site in wedding category
A slightly different take. I am getting sick of people badmouthing sites which offer a free option. I don't send emails on submission or acceptance but do on rejection. I have had submissions resubmitted with cleaned up titles and/or descriptions which were accepted. FYI, one of my definitions of spam is a description with a keyword appearing more than twice. If I am undecided I often check the domain part of the email to ensure an active site. If I see a gmail or similar crap service I figure the person has something to hide and will be more likely to reject. What it take; maybe 5 min to setup an email and forward it so if it starts getting spammed just kill it. I keep a spreadsheet of such addresses, what they were created for and where they redirect to (currently around 60). That along with mailwasher works great.
