Directory Owners - Do you charge for additional directory listing amendments?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by gkd_uk, May 2, 2012.

    Hi

If a listing is submitted to your directory (paid), reviewed and approved, do you charge a fee if the owner of the website wants further changes making to the listing or the listing removing at a later date.

So for example, Joe Bloggs submits a listing on 01/05/2012, its reviewed and approved.

A few months later, for example 01/09/2012, Joe Bloggs contacts you requesting he would like to make a change to the description or wants the listing removed.

Do you charge for additional amendments?

    Thanks

No charge for amendment if url is same as before. No charge for removing listing. No charge for change in description or anchor text. But there is charge if you change your website url.

I'm so thankful when folks ask me for changes. That means my directory will have more accurate information that I didn't have to spend the time chasing down. If the domain changes, I confirm site ownership rather than just taking whoever contacted me at their word.

I do draw the line at seasonal/holiday changes as in February they want to mention they sell gifts for Valentine's Day, October is Halloween, etc.

Description and title should not be charge, unless site is being forward to another page or URL. If the title or description is spamming our directory, we will not approve SPAM (changes) even with advertiser pays higher fee.

Mine no charge at all. There is a revision tab and I just need to approve or disapprove the latest changes they have made.

A question for those of you who charge...are you saying that you would charge someone who has taken the time to write you and let you know that they will be disbanding their site? And that site owners actually pay you under those conditions?

Dont know how you can justify that, takes seconds to find a listing and delete it, and if a removal request happens to be the recent type where webmasters are requesting removals because of penalisations then its already bad enough for them, without having to pay again to "not be listed" thats like going to the supermarket and paying to not walk out with my shopping.

Utter nonsense those saying time is money, you should be ashamed of yourselves if you're charging for a removal, dont forget it wasn't very long ago that directories themselves were penalised, for whatever reason a removal is requested you should deal with it promptly and without charge, you're being ridiculous and arrogant to suggest that the most tiny of requests be charged to those requesting it.
