Possibly true, but when your marketing, u have to keep into account, your actual clientelle or in the case of directories, who will be submitting their sites in it.

For some reason, I don't see a ATI technologies, or Matrox or Jerry's Pizza or companies of that sort submitting to a directory with a marketing idea like that.

    I could be wrong.

Lets take GoDaddy's SuperBowl approach. How well do you think that did for them given their commercial? For better or worse, how do you think GoDaddy faired?

Are you suggesting that you wouldn't submit to a directory because of that ad?
Is GoDaddy your registrar? Are you against GoDaddy for that SuperBowl commercial? Would you use GoDaddy as a registrar?

Well it will definetly catch more click throughs , great for CPM advertising... about submitting, that will depend on the price of your submissions and on the people visiting, if they have sites and the price is right, itll go through. If its a pervert mislead in the wrong direction, then theyll close the site when they find out you wont show them a bit more of that butt.

There is quite a bit of truth to anon's comments about a little "freak' in all of us. It seems that before i put a little racier banner image on my sites I was barely getting click-throughs, but now I am converting much better.

This may be a personal preference, but I am not particularly fond of thinking about women taking dumps...

I think more people would click if it wasn't insinuating #2. lol

True that, I can barely stand the bathroom when I'm doing a #2, so why would I want to watch a chick "pinch a loaf"?

Here are two fine examples of the mind working in a twisted manner. bahahaha
(sarcasm is no excuse at this point now)

You perceived it as #2. Although everyone else percieved it differently.
But hey, at least I now know you're into 'scat' and unfortunately, so does everybody else!!! hahaha (you're officially watchlisted buddy)

Anwyho, you see, that is just part of the whole concept I am trying to somewhat and somehow capture and understand. How ads work and in what way they work best.

I do thank everyone on thread participation. This is very interesting for me.

Actually I didn't see godaddy's superbowl commercial, so I can't comment bout it. Was it on tv or online?

Also, was if it was similar in nature to the graphic I saw at the beginning of this thread, I would definately not use godaddy as my registrar.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying, if I saw an ad like that I wouldn't bother submitting my site there.

Mainly because an ad like that would attract the 'buy viagra online' or 'come late' or warez, weapons, alcohol and tobacco related audience.

Again, just my opinion, but that is what I think.

If you've not heard about the GoDaddy commerical of a few years back, then ... well, errrr... o_0
It was on tv, online, topic of conversation for a quite some time. Hit all the news outlets. Possibly you're just going 'against the grain to be difficult and different' who knows.

Yes it was similar in nature.

Ok so you wouldn't submit. Thx

You don't know what and who that ad would attract. You're just speculating.

What if i told you that your Low Dot Domains is in fact a GoDaddy Reseller?

I don't see how it can be taken any differently with "dump" exiting her rear end. lol

DUMP:to drop or let fall in a mass; fling down or drop heavily or suddenly: Dump the topsoil here.

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dump

Anyways, kudos for this thread. It made me laugh :D

Actually I honestly never heard about godaddy's ad.

If it was in the news and there was talk about it, then there has to be something peculiar bout it. Something out of the ordinary.

How long did they keep that ad?

Actually I know Lowdot and wildwest all belong to godaddy. I have quite a few domains registered with them, but again like I said, if I had seen it, I would not have been a godaddy customer.

Very easily. Some people don't see ads in the same way.

now we all know what a dump is, but again, some of us tend to not ANALysis(haha pun intended anal, dump, womens butt :)) ads

See, that was also part of the ad, because it was partially comical. ;)

edit: i tried to give rep for the feedback but DP is being a hardass today.

[heh... in case people need to see the ad again... market research, keeping up with the news, etc.]

This ad will get a very high click through rate compared to your standard "Submit Your Url" directory ad.

Some people have made negative comments about the ad. I think ultimately it depends on context. It probably wouldn't work well on some of the more corporate blue chip sites, but that's not your only target audience.

Add in a bit of animation and you've really got a winner! And you could create a whole series of similar ads with different tag lines.
