He was complaining about a particular directory owner and other directory owners in general. Of course it does not mean all -- only those perceived competitors.

My point was - most of directory owners are not his competitors.

muneeb has trained staff how funny, couldn't help but laugh I did however check my mail searching his e-mail and 527 e-mails from him in spam/deleted, kind of funny as ive only submitted to 1 or two of his directories in the past year.

I less bother for spam emails, since most of them go to the junk folders.

I cant see any harm in advertising his service to the owners of the sites listed in his directory (sorry Umesh281), but repeated sending is irritating & often leaves a bad impression. He can better advertise his service on his directories instead of mailing. I think very very few people read advertisement mails.

I am not here to support anyone. But just want to ask is this not self promotion in the thread ?

I am not sure, But you get these kind of emails in ton when you submit to free directories (I guess that is Life now). Some high PR old directories like Jayde spams you to death with stories from WebPronews !

What is more important is getting over it, so long as the link is getting approved ;) and common after all it is free... ! and also we all know to use a junk email account for these submissions ;)

Wow ! Lol that is a nice number. I am sure that you are using auto filters to delete the messages ;)

The email in question is obviously NOT SPAM. It is common practice for directory owners who offer free listings in their directory to include some sort of advertising with the confirmation email *I do that too* The OP in question is probably distressed that his competition is reaching out to his clients. If the OP doesn't want his clients to receive such email then DON'T submit to those free directories, its that simple.
