Dear Friends and Directory Section Members,

I need a small advice. I am starting a dedicated Directory Network with my existing directory network that now I own from more than 1yr.

I have atm 28 directories, out of which all have PR, many are not announced and many have been earlier.

I plan to sell around 8 of them and then start my dedicated network of 20 directories.

I have been speaking to many hostings from past few weeks. I have received offers from some.

Here is one deal what someone has offered me:

They will be giving 1 Dedicated C Class IP to each directory. But they would most likely be all on the same c class as well.

Is it acceptable? Will it affect my network in anyway?

Please explain and guild me fellow members.

If you are going for 1 dedicated IP for each directory, it would be desirable that they are on different C Class. IMO

Just use Dreamhost - So far, all of my domains have a unique IP on the shared hosting, and you can get the first year for $22 if you get the code from retailmenot.

    worst advice ever :p

Im with downtownhost.com - they give me 1 IP with my account, 2 IPs after that, and every other ip i want costs $2/month

    So you would need 17 x $2 a month + hosting bill.

I personally wouldnt use all your directories unless they had their own C-Class IP.

I am not here asking abt hosting guys.

I already said, they all will be hosted in diff dedicated IP addresses.

I have asked about IP issue as follows:

Also whats the so big necessity behind Class C ? From what I know Class C doesn't affect SEO in anyway.

    Case1:

All one dedicated Class C, but different base:

    Dir 1 - Class.C.Ip.1

    Dir 2 - Class.C.Ip.2

    Dir 3 - Class.C.Ip.3

.... that means same base if I am correct.

    Case 2:

Mix of different Class IP addresses:

    Dir 4 - Class.Diff.Ip.4

    Dir 5 - Class.1Diff.Ip.5

    Dir 6 - Class.2Diff.Ip.6

---- I hope I clear about my two cases above, lemme know your opinion guys. :)

Having a mix of different IP's, including different c-class IPs would be desirable, it may prevent any potential spam or duplicatation penalties from the engines.

How about the SEO effect of different class C IPs on different dedicated server.
I believe the mixture of more than one dedicated server with a number of different class C IPs will have advantage.

Please understand that you will not get penalized for using set of same C class IPs. However, all those links will get discounted i.e. SEs will not take them into account. So your efforts will go waste and no body would be interested in submitting to those directories.

energetic: What you have mentioned is very true, could not agree more:)

This is another one of those "common wisdom" propositions that's bandied about as if gospel with hardly any proof.

Even if your Class C addresses are unique, it won't matter unless your Whois is different also. Are people really faking the Whois and putting directories on different IPs just to meet this imaginary requirement? I hope not.
