    Nice idea.
But you really have to take the risk ;)

Risk is not something I fear. I think that move would be wreckless. There is no need to expose the index. I am more than happy to add any subject to the index not covered, but I think it's comprehensive.

How about something like "unique sites" where people can just show off some websites that are different. Kinda like my new unique directories section :D

too late as I already did this.. :p but I am not announcing it as I want it to be my wiki (I am the only one who adds entries) and don't really want to clean up a lot of spam.. Good luck with yours though. :)

I know there might be spam, but I am hoping (maybe naivley) that most webmasters will be good to their own. Don't be stranger to add any of your sites :) Thanks for the good wishes.

I like the idea, but then wouldn't it defeat the purpose of categories? I was thinking of creating a link of the day. I'm not sure yet. What do you think of "Bizzare Sites?" Btw I added your site under Directories on my site (as you did for me)

    Thanks, James!
I think that something like a section for strange, very good or somehow noteworthy sites would be a very good idea. I'm sure that quite a few members here have a whole list of interesting ones.

Thanks for the idea. I created a category for "Bizarre" sites that defy categorization . Thanks again for the idea :D

My Pleasure. One more tip: if Nintendo signs up, don't let him be able to submit any sites to that section ;)

Recently added a career category...thanks to Matt for the PM. Let me know of any others missing.

On a side note, I appreciate any links you make to mark8t, even though it's not required to be listed :D

I think it's a good idea in theory, and I'm cautiously optimistic that it will work out for you and everyone else here (including myself :D ).

Good idea. But yes I'm afraid spammers will spam your site. But I saw a similar niche here also http://aboutus.org. Goodluck with your directory.

well there is definitely alot of traffic...and the PR4 on the main domain will surely spill over soon---the freshness of the content and constant update will also allow people to get into Goolge and other major search engines fast (and easy). This was my hope from the beginning. I just got fed up with filling in submissions or the limited scope ODP editorship gives you. I hope this works for you and everyone. That was my goal.

More importantly (knocking on wood) it seems most people respect the fact its primarly a webmaster service, so the spam has been minimal. It's also nice to see DP members respect one another. Even the non-webmasters visiting the site seem to be having a good time (have gotten some good feedback). I hope to have this site for many years to come. Thanks for all your support everyone it is much appreciated :D I hope you come back again and again to not only add your sites, but other sites you find that are cool. :D

I haven't really seen spam, but I guess it can come. I hope the required log on, (unlike aboutus.org) will stop most spam. I also have the ability to block ip's-but I know this can be worked around. But there are other features too -there is an rss feed so anyone can subscribe to see changes made and make sure there listing is not "vandalized". Obviously there is a risk with wiki's, but wikipedia makes it work (among others), so why not as a directory? As long as the formats are followed, I don't see an issue. I think most people realizing spamming a wiki is a waste of time, and it just punishes everyone. I guess we'll see :) Like I said before I guess I'm a naive optimist.

Glad to hear that you're really serious about this project. In future time you should be prepared to spend more time as the directory gets crowded and popular. :)

I'm ready, but I also hope others will get involved too. If nothing a wiki is a collabarative effort. I would assume when one person spams a category it affects the other people. If the page gets blacklisted from google or yahoo no one wins :D
