So folks many direct and/or in-direct activities are going on in around the Directory Sector

Thats fine these actions are typical of everyday commercial business

The question is what is the next Development Phase that we the Directory Owners are going to implement to ensure we further consolidate our market place ?

Lets have some very pro-active creative input here:cool:

    Thanks :)

Don't understand your question 100% too much rum, but I am adding more unique content to my mix, doing a few other small things.

I think the best move is to be independent as much as possible from "outside forces".

We can and will overcome whatever obstacle to bring directories into a new light for the benefit of all internet users.

    Amen!

I can read between the lines of that post. So I will not ask you to divulge thoughts on it.

I totally agree. Off the top of my head I can name 5 things. In the future, I hope to see Lobo Links fulfill all of them.

I think focusing on niche markets.

Also something more interactive whether it be for the visitor or the advertiser may benefit as well.

Pete, I think you are going in the right direction with your City Journalist Directory. It looks great and I see a lot of potential there.

Thanks acuman for the comments, but we have a lot of coding still to do to get it to where we want it to be, and we have hundreds of images in the database but we have not approved as yet

But we will work hard with it thats for sure

Personally I have decided to focus on directory based niche portals on topics that are of interest to me and I want to develop a network of around 10 of them. I am halfway there right now and hope to have the other 5 live in the next 5 months. Once these sites start getting decent traffic I will add forums to them for greater interactivity.

This is what we are doing. We are also inducting first time internet users and are hoping to build a vibrant community which interacts at different levels.

Most visionaries will look to the future and we are mid way through the Web 2.0 cycle and now Web 3.0 is under development

Its essential to follow both these phases to see where the synergy can be integrated

I think being more unique is the way. If you could happily tell someone that your site is more than just a web directory you are on your way to succeed. Adding a few articles in a blog doesnt really help that much. You need to expand and suit every users needs.

    People would pay to submit only on those directories which would send them traffic. {its next phase}

I hope ive read the question correctly and will attempt to give my thought.

I have some plans regarding my directories and a niche one that im planning but dont want to give too much information yet, for obvious, sensible reasons.

But i think the next development phase includes (for us all) the ability to not get so caught up in terms and labels used for particular things, i dont want to even mention them, hope im not getting confusing, hopefully you know what im meaning.

Damn this is awkward to answer without either giving too much away or baiting anyone that doesn't like us ;) mikey has pointed out that unique is the way, i agree, i think you all will agree with that.

I think the comradeship between us is important and should stay, i for one enjoy being part of a community where we share information regarding directories and we can always assist each others with various skills, be that coders, designers, seo, answering question of newcomers, various services.
At the same time each one of us trying to be unique as possible, so even though mods will still be released, we can try and advance even further with completely new ideas.

While still understanding that our directories reside on the search engines, it will be healthy to understand and appreciate just what we have/will have with our directories.

The next development phase should be done carefully, take your time, we will get it right, still assist each other but dont be afraid to be as unique as you can, something that you may think wont work may be perfect.

Just doing those two things puts you ahead of 90% of the directories out there, so I think it will help much.

We just hope to share and develope our directory as we move forward in a new era of directories in a positive way and that on a personal level feel humbled to be amongst some of the finest directories and people in the game and hope we can even give a little something in return for the wealth of knowledge and help shown to us already.

Yes agree we all need to be positive and focus on the next development phase, little or no purpose is gained by going back, the future is forward and the directory market needs to lead from the front

There is as you say a wealth of knowledge here, which we need to harness to ensure we progress positively :)
