Directory market continues to boom, as quality pulls away to lead the market

I read with amazement and disbelief a lot of the negative threads posted in reference to Directories

Let's take a minute to assure you the Directory vertical is anything but dead

My personal background comes from working for US Companies all my career where you are paid to be positive (because you have done your officework and turned all the negatives into positives)

Based on that proven methodology and ethic, lets appraise briefly the position of the directory sector

It's relatively simple to explain, approx 100 to 200 directories have stepped up a level in providing quality, sustainable support services, sustainable marketing services, additional mods, new features, blogs, etc etc

And what does that bring these directories individually well again thats real simple more traffic, more review submissions, more clients

Some may post other points of view but no one can deny the reality is

The state of the Directory Market
    is as overviewed here its
    Bullish for Quality Directories

I suppose Directories are supposedly made to allow categorised browsing in the 1st place. So the fundamental should be there... To allow quick and easy browsing.

I am trying to achieve that for my directories.. so only time will tell.

I agree, business has never been better than late 2006 and 2007. We have had to increase staffing in all areas. Very large increase in UK marketing!

Directories can go to next level of glory if they manage to bring daily visitors aiming to 'find' website of their 'interest' :)

Well I agree there. Quality is the way to go. Directories owners need to provide "extra" than just displaying links. And with the time, new things will come out. Lets see what happens this year. I am sure it will be better than the past.

There can't be a better definition to "Road to Success" in Directory business. :)
    Green's for you :)

What most dont understand is that until most if not all engines stop counting backlinks as votes or a way of seperating this site from that site
then the web directory will continue to blossom and florish....
Only difference is that google will notably only consider the quality directories that offer more then the next directory and offer those better page rank..

    thx

This is a big challenge for general directories, IMO. I think niche directories can gain more people's attention.

Could be a very relevant factor as quality niche directories continue to develop
