why you say for the free directories this there are some popular & good like hubpages _ squidoo __ e how also ezine articles some people calling this sites social bookmarking , you must read tos first before start
You can hurt you're website if you're using a lot of key words in your description only some directories aloud it, they don't care. The best directories are human edited directories, owners control the listings like we do. www.market-ing.ca Google still recognizes 'good directories' only if you're description uses the right content to describe you're service/product. We have some listings indexed by google in one day and they are on the first page on google search. if you want to see the listings visit our page and look for a post about getting google web traffic fast.
Yes Directory listing is dangerous. Here is a prove : https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/free-directories-or-paid-directories.2561781/page-4 Last post by Lapidus
It is not the directory that is dangerous, but the person adding their site. Most of what people add to directories are keyword stuffed, have bad grammar and just downright don't make sense. Instead of blaming directories for penalties, do instead look in the mirror and review your seo skills. If your skills consist of copy-paste, you should probably not add your site to directories. If you do copy and paste junk across many directories, you are deserving of a penalty.
If your spamming your web site with the same content or submitting to low quality directories, then it will negatively impact your web site in search engines.
Quite right about self growth as it also permits the user to add his company profile. People usually thinks that self growth is mainly an article site which also permits the users to make social connections with others. As far as the Dmoz is concern, as it sometimes took much time to index ones site and do not accept all requested sites so it is an assumption that in this way one can say that it is only a waste of time. Somehow dmoz still a useful site and contain a huge weight in Google's eyes. Try posting your sites on it may be your site would be accepted by them and hence would get an extra benefit......
Directory Submission effect has reduced after Penguin Update.Nowadays, content matters more in websites.
I was expecting some infinite words of wisdom, instead I am not sure what to make of that babble by Lapidus...
I totally agree with Tornado about grammar and a poor description ruining your listings. I have my own directory, and i know how descriptions are being written. Many of the submissions done are completed by cheap SEO services. For them what counts is the amount of links instead of quality. I do my best to control this from happening on my website market-ing.ca, which has led to multiple listings being indexed and on googles first page. semco
The purpose of a directory is to provide indirect traffic. Not backlinks. Not link juice. Not PR. Traffic... that's all, that's it. The other stuff? That should be part of a much larger and all encompassing link strategy.
It's not likely to though, because it's pretty normal for new sites to be listed in directories first, since that's the most accessible source of links for new sites.
I think the quality directories are still working. Manual submission and qualitative description is best friends now. List of really high-quality directories can be found here: http://info.vilesilencer.com/blog/?p=442
Yeah. If you are into internet marketing. But Google seems to like sites which get no links from marketing sources, but strong links from strong/random sources.
