Directory links still got value ?

I was link building for one of my new sites , when i noticed another new site just above me in SERPS .

I was curious to look up , where its getting its backlinks from . I used yahoo to lookup backlinks , all it had was directory links .

So the question is , are directory links still useful ?

 

Sure.. some... if the page your directory entry is on is indexed AND other entries on the page where you link will appear are also for your niche.

 

as the above folk said.., Directory Submissions has a gud linking value.., go for google searchable directories which helps you to boost SERP in Google.

 

I think they still hold a value, but i'm not sure how much. As long as they are dofollow links from a reasonable website it can't do any harm, but don't waste too much time, there are better methods.

 

Value is decreasing over the years but still you will get some link love if the directory is providing followed links.

 

adding a handful a day won't hurt.

besides some help in SEO I have had several large sales coming from directories.

 

It is unlikely directories alone will do it depending on the niche.

But, they are still valuable when part of an overall SEO strategy.

 

Just like what everybody else said, do it but it should just be a portion of your SEO

 

authority directories like yahoo,dmoz,botw,joeant can be very helpful in your link building efforts especially if you have a new website as you need to establish trust with google and other search engines.

 

Directory Submissions has a good linking value...It helps in improving you search engine ranking. But it takes much more time in approval.

 

They still have some value, though not nearly as much as before the big Google Directory Slap.

 

directory provide the stably in our site ranking. If google not considering directory in backlink, it does't mean directory has worthless.

Yes, but it takes a long time for the links to get picked up and does not carry that much value anymore.

As a long term strategy it's good to build these links and even though Google don't value them that highly anymore Yahoo and MSN still love em.

If you can get into DMOZ or Yahoo Directory (paid directory) the do it but its virtually impossible to get into DMOZ nowdays and YD is too expensive.

Try and focus only on directories with PR2 or above.

 

It all depends on the directory in question The ones in the sig still have some value...if you visit the sites, you'll figure out what I'm talking about.
