directory/index.php and directory/ have different PR. Why?

    Hi there,

I am reviewing a site were all links are pointed to full string URLs like

    www sitename com/directory/index.php

Those .php files have a PR of 5 on average.

When I go to www sitename com/directory/ however, I only get a PR of 0.

Is this because the links are pointing to the index.php, or is it because the directory displays a file other than the index.php (maybe index.html?)

    Pointers appreciated.

Because all of the links point to index.php, that's the one that gets the PageRank. Google sees the two adresses to be different. If you have no links to directory/, and no visitor ever goes there, then I wouldn't worry about it.

The two URLs are teated differently by Google. If it's a problem for you 301 redirect one to the other.
