Directory index in apache

    hi all,

    i have observed that even if i change the directory index order in my httpd.conf as below it always looks to open the .php file first

    DirectoryIndex index.htm index.html index.xhtml (yes i have even remove the php extention)

    can anyone say the reason for this and a way to overcome this and load the xhtml file as the index file
