Directory Hacked By Night Walker

I browsed http://www.01webdirectory.org/ to submit my sites. I saw that this directory has hacked by some hackers.

How it has hacked? how we can make more security for our directories? I think, if we discuss here in details, all directory owners will get benefits.

Yeah on my travels i still bump into a few of those affected directories that still have not sorted theirs yet, or maybe not visited their own directory in a while and are unaware.

That particular attack was an SQL injection attack which revealed the admin password. In most cases there was only minor damage.

Prevention: Keep your scripts up to date. Most hacks get fixed pretty quick once you figure out how they got in.

These type of threads always remind me to do a complete backup of my directory. :)
I am on it.... Thanks for the reminder.

While this apparently wasn't the case here, I have noticed most of the web directories that have been hacked lately have had more to do with bad hosting rather than an insecure script. Don't put your directory on the CRAZY CHEAP plan at www.joebobs-cheap-hosting.com (made that up). Host your sites with one of the big boys.
