I contacted Sean and he said there is problem on showing directory on homepage due to permalink structure.
Looked at indexu and it looks like their wordpress plugin is compatible to WP2.6. CNCat and IndexU have different feature sets, but are comparable. CNCat is far cheaper for a single site license and also have a could of features I want (filters and custom fields). They seem comparable though. Only time will tell which one progresses most. It seems IndexU is more in tune with the social networking/Web 2.0 craze and CNCat is more pure directory.
Watch your mouth. I talked to you with respect, so I expect the same from you. You seem to be confident in your knowledge, but that doesn't give you a right to be cocky. A simple "read the installation guide" would've been sufficient. Plus, half the conversations in forums are speculation. So, are you saying you never make speculations? I suggest you eat some humble pie, and don't barge in here like you're some veteran.
Sorry you took it that way. What I said was, "speculation is useless." I'm not confident in my knowledge, which is why I said "Read the docs." I'm by no means cocky, at least not about Wordpress or directory scripts. I will be more humble about my ability to ascertain how people might misunderstand the written word when it is separated from visual and auditory cues. My point was that it was useless for me or anyone else to speculate when it appears "objective" information is available. Of course I speculate. Most times, it's useless. It is particularly useless when there is no supporting information provided (or reasonably assumed) and when objective information is available to test my speculation before making it. That is why I tried to provide the objective information for anyone who might care to check it out. I've read it, but I wasn't looking for potential modifications to the WP core at the time. I'll read it again before I use the script as modifications to core is a no-go. There was no disrespect intended to you or anyone else here. Forums are just not that serious to me. I'm here to get and share information to help me with the task at hand. That won't change whether I'm a veteran or not.
Guess I'm not sure your question. The link in my post is to the installation manual for CN-Cat for Wordpress. They have a good demo of the software on the homepage although the demo is not within wordpress as the software can be embedded in Joomla, etc. and they only demo the standalone version. The developers are Russian and it appears most of the site using it are in Europe. I found another site that tries to aggregate all directory sites and what software they use. It's used in many places although PHPLD seems to be the leader. http://www.directorysnob.com/
