Hi I want add a directory on my wordpress site and want to show the directory on the homepage of my wordpress blog.. Checked few plugins but doesn't work good anyone have good experience of any plugin? OR how can I show/integrate phpld on wordpress homepage ? please help thanks
There is lot of Wordpress plugins allow you to create a web directory, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=directory
lets see on DP I think there are more & intelligent people on DP I want something like this http://www.blogaboutmysite.com/directory/ but the reverse way... phpld on wordpress.
There are a lot things n custom codings done with http://www.blogaboutmysite.com/ and its setup. I would suggest its better if you keep wordpress and phpld separate. Wordpress updates almost every week, it will result in lot of your plugin's and custom modifications require tweaks every week.
I had wanted to add some articles to my eSyndicat install before that was something that was included in the software. I hand-coded the link onto my ES template's menu, took the generated source code and then made the template for the article area. The articles are in a directory at the root level where the ES is installed. If your primary categories won't change all that much, you could hand-code the links to the directory from the blog's homepage template.
Hi, I have used page links to plugin http://txfx.net/wordpress-plugins/page-links-to/ on my site http://www.salesd.com to put a link to my forum on the home page. It works perfect
I am thinking of the same thing. I tried in the past various plugins, none of which worked good at all. Have not done this, may mess around with it tomorrow. Either sub-domain or folder on my blog and dump phpld on it. True, it will not have my blog theme. But unless someone comes up with a way to add a directory to a blog using the blog theme, it may have to do.
Here's a list: http://www.liveambitions.com/free-link-directory-plugins-for-wordpress/ I've tried them all except the commercial one. My favorite is the one by Links Back SEO. It's the only one that allows you to add subcategories if I remember correctly.
I've been wanting this forever and there were no good solutions. I finally found one that seems robust enough for my needs - custom fields, filters, ratings, etc. Cost is not bad at $30US. cn-software.com CN-CAT There demo is great for try before you buy.
I haven't installed it yet, but the answer is yes and no. It acts like a plugin with admin section and all the rest. However, the installation procedure is a little bit more involved. It is better documented than most anything I've seen for wordpress or directory scripts, so you can read and demo 'til your heart's content. I like that the company makes money on it because they are more likely to update and stay in business. You have to register to see their forums which are pretty sparse.
Hmm...I have a feeling it may require you to make changes to the core files in WP. This is something I would avoid because when you update WP, the changes would get overwritten.
I just tried a few of them on my blog. Ended up with Wordpress Link Directory by Sean Bluestone Found here: http://www.seanbluestone.com/wp-link-directory Only thing is the premium set up does not work. I believe that is why I dropped it before. Check it out at Directory Daily. Easy to set up and seems to do the job I want done.
