I thought some of you might want to see this. I took a look at some of the earning for a few directories, and what they make on a yearly basis, the numbers are outstanding for some of these. Would'nt it be nice to rake in that kind of dough from your directory every year. 1. WowDirectory: Clients: 26,908,383 = $941,793,405.00 a year 2. Business.com: Clients: 2,082,939 = $414,504,861.00 a year 3. BOTW.org: Clients: 818,594 = $40,921,514.06 a year 4. GoGuides.org: Clients: 427,913 = $29,932,514.35 a year 5. Skaffe.com Clients: 280,861 = $11,234,440.00 a year I know that these numbers are not 100% correct, even if only half is true that is still pretty damn good for a directory to make that on a yearly basis. Information was taken from http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php fee x Saturation= $ What do you guys think about that.
Would need a lot more statistics before believing that those figures were anywhere near to being accurate
I'm not real sure about the others, but I would be willing to bet the business.com and botw.org are pretty darn close to being accurate.
I bet this is far, far, far from the truth. Check at both.com and see their guidelines for submission. They maybe do $100.000 a year
If wow were earning that much, the sale would have gone through at that, what was it he was asking? $250k? It did not, not even close... Personally I think it was worth it. Anyway, your numbers are based on what? How many listings they have times the dollar amount on average they charge for a listing? Tell you what. Take a look at the KingBloom Directory and give me your estimate. If you come anywhere near close, I will let you know if you are.
Ok you are right, this was not a good example the numbers seem a little extreme, but it was fun while it lasted. Note to future posters, do not smoke (if you know what I mean) and write threads at the same time.
One of the problems with your equation is the lack of, total divided by number of years the directory has been in operation.
All of them are so remote, in fact, I only want to know the earning of Aviva Directory and alivedirectory.
ok, I forgot to count all the search results Kingbloom has indexed. They are making momey there. But all together not more than 15000 a year, maximum, probably less.
BOTW has some sort of promotion going, where you get free featured links for a while, then paid for the rest of the year. So you can't just take the number of links, not all of them are created equal. A directory needs a number of links before it can consider going paid, and it probably needs to retain a number of these in order to remain useful: .gov and .edu links, for instance.
