not bad dagre, but they don't include keywords. And also do you take into account subdomains?
other than that, can you pm me how you retrieve the details of the link using that url? I mean what you do in the first lines of detail.php?

If you're a fun of keywords in URL always can be added:
    www. domain . com/links/bla_bla_bla_bla_domain_com.html
But really in my case I do not like it.
Everywhere you can read: avoid long URLs.

Subdomains? Also are different of domains, only dot added. Dot is not a probllem.

    How it's done?
While submission proccess my code retrieves all necessary things and creates new variable for detail link. Then I have new field in LINK table....
Also added new field to Admin (for link edit), so I can always change it to more or less unique - whatever I want :)

double header is not a problem

I made it to output twice

you can see the url thats it

Unlike other details page which pass on the id my page will not pass link id

to avoid long urls the best way is /id.html :D
ok thanks for the explanation so you are using another unique link table field.

i always have one question about linkforever

why are there the w3 validation banners with no link

and why are they there when linkforever is neither xhtml Valid nor CSS Valid ??

i always find that interesting.. is it one of your advanced features ??

I have often wondered if all the "extras" really make a difference when deciding to submit to a directory or not. When I submit to directories, I seldom visit a details page first just to see how it will look so to me it doesn't influence my decision that much.

I think the important thing is to offer something of real value to your clients and not simply a collection of pretty widgets to satisfy our own egos.

There are some good must have things we can add but also a lot of fluff... IMO

i think all you really need is a deep link mod / thumbnail of the site...

alexa graph is ok but not necessary ... all the other stuff is just to make our directory look GOOD

doesn't really matter ... mayb shows how serious the owner is

Never had enough time for rotating banners to resolve it (3 XHTML errors)

Now took free 5 minutes and made it valid.
I'm enough experienced to make any website W3C Valid.
So don't understand what do you want to proove...

Also wonder if you have nothing better to do as only tracing others for errors? :(
Don't you have a feeling you're wasting your time?

And what if now I'd show HERE much more powerful directories than LinkForever with more than 100 XHTML errors?

Do you think it would be nice and fair? :(
No, I'd never do that. Prefer to look over my own business.
Also have respect for other dirs as for most their owners put a lot of efforts to keep it as nice and powerful as possible.

Dagre its not the matter of how good you are ..

i only asked why is it there because you are claiming your site to be xhtml valid (which it is now)

and css valid (which it is still not) ...

than you are misguiding your user now ... so i wondered why it was there what was your reasoning behind it ...

    not picking on you ...

alive doesn't mention that they are xhtml valid .. probably they are not ... didn't check them ..

i only checked urs cuz it had a button and no link..

And that's what most impressed me much.
    Yes I didn't link to W3C - my choice.
But you were so suspicious to check it manually...
Now you repeated it for css.
It was valid once, but changes are made so often...
If I find the time will correct it surely.

I noticed it's not the first time you check and check others, so I'm really still impressed you can find time to do that ...
Maybe you should think of changing your nick to 'SHERLOCK'?

    Think not yet.

As I can show other dirs with W3C buttons and not 1,2 or 3 errors - but something about 100!
But you do not mention it here. And I'm sure you know it. So, afraid of something or of someone?
Or you have other business in in dong what you do?

Not to bad choice congrats... :D

We are working on our details pages as well and have a few neat things in store
for all network directories... A few mods will be available soon as silky gets them done and will be on all my directories details pages as well as main pages.. :)

The way i see it the details pages are about them and for them and part of the price of submission...
While it may take an extra few minutes its well worth it in the end.

    Regardless wish you success.. ;)

    thx

    Yip thats good ....

But then again id be screwing my monthly sitewide subscribers ....

Dont worry im sure all the hard work will pay off with some PR6s ... ;)
You may want to add some content to thier pages as content is king... :D

Ps wasnt trying to down play your details pages as i like them but what i was
refering to was the custom descriptions that i add to give more content weight...

    sorry for any misunderstanding

    thx

"Never had enough time" - I can verify that dargre never has enough time and that would be the reason. I am still waiting for him to find some time to install scrolling sponsors on my directory and some more of his great mods, so stop having him spending time on this thread, he needs to finish up his work so it is my turn :)
