Well were all out to make a buck, fast or slow.

Thing is some people come here, acting like they are all straight and should be looked up to, but they do shady things to make the cash they make for the directory business and everything else.

Theres a few that are involved in porn, and allsorts of stuff then go preaching about doing things the right way, everyones a QBC all that nonsense.

Two faced people, telling people they are QBC then going doing much worse behind the scenes.

    Its not a problem.

If those directories were paid, I could agree. But they are free and require no reciprocal links.

Maybe I'm giving too much credit for the people that frequent this forum, but I think most have enough common sense to easily determine which domains are suspicious. If not, here's a hint... If the domain is "joesusedtruckrepair(dot)com and has a PR of 5, then there is a good chance the directory domain/PR should not be trusted. :D Like I said, it's common sense. The free links still get indexed just as any other link, regardless of the domain name or the associated PR...

Free is free, would be a great link for an automotive web site even if it did only last a few months.

    That would be correct, Malcolm.

It is like music to my ears. Don't believe me, have a 'listen' to what I am currently 'listening to'.

Should the domain have the word directory in in?

What makes a brand new directory with a domain that was registered new by the owner 2 weeks ago anymore trustworthy?

CReed, do you operate squeeky clean yourself? everything done by the book always?

No you have the problem with other peoples directories, so what if they are on dropped domains?

You cant come moaning then not expect to be asked questions.

Ive just put a question to you, stop complaining about how people operate, its up to them.

    Do you still own directories?

    Yeah, sure thing.

Is it time to take this discussion to PM/IM? We're getting way off topic.

    My apologies to the OP.

No apologies necessary to anyone here. I personally enjoyed seeing where the conversation was headed.

I guess people like pipes need to whore out whatever links are available in their sig and blog and what have you, in order to make ends meat. (maybe it's time people like this get a real damn job)

Anywho, I enjoy seeing others take part in what may be shady business practice(s), and then questioned about it.
Afterall, that is what this thread is about when you look at it.

I guess we can always further the convo via Y! chat if you want :)

To the OP, I think it's pretty unfair in that no notice was really being delivered with regards to compensation for already paid months.
While I may not agree with how they did it, I do understand that not all in life is fair. I would just say eat the loss and move on. No need to dwell on it well, not unless is what 100,000. :)

Sure, why not? A listing on this directory will be indexed just like any other directory.

The focus of my list has been, and will remain, newly launched free directories. Are these newly launched directories as good as they were a year ago? No. But if they are SEO friendly, and are easy to submit to, then the backlink will count regardless of the domain name or PR.

I have submitted to higher quality/high PR free directories in the past. The problem is that many of them simply delete free listings. That BS about being reviewed in 6-9 months, in most cases, is a flat out lie. The only reason they accept free submissions is so they can get additional traffic from being on free directory lists, in hopes that a few decide to submit a paid express/featured link.

I could list directories similar to other "high quality free directory lists," but the fact is most of the free submissions will never be reviewed. If they are reviewed, only a fraction will be approved.

So which is better, a free and approved link from joesusedtruckrepair(dot)com or waiting a pregnancy term to have your free submission never reviewed and deleted at a "quality" directory?

Like I said previously, its a free directory list. You get what you pay for...

On that note, I consider this issue retired.

Sadly you probably are giving too much credit to most of the nutters who do frequent this forum, there's a good few dozen who stand out here and not much more, and that's the truth however a bitter pill it is to swallow.

Better than swallowing an0n's lollipop though, perish the thought. :D

sorry to tell you that you are pretty wrong,
right now it's not the $40 or $100,000 business only,
i am angry as they deleted my banner without reason, (mistake is not acceptable at all)
anyway when i started a dispute case at paypal and then they refunded to me.
    DC was dead. :)

To the OP, do come back and tell us how you get on dealing with the new owners. If they are unwilling to refund and not prepared to put up the advertising for the correct period of time then they will ultimately loose half of their advertisers before they start, seeing as the majority of them read these forums.
