Directory Critic becomes an authority site too !

    Hello dudes,

I just saw that directory critic became an authority site as well with 3 links. It is good to hear that, taking into account that this is a top referer for a lot of directory owners, especially free ones.

    Thanks,
    hyper

They got penalised by Google as well. A lot of sidewide links, and reciprocals. Google and DirectoryCritic divorced for a while...

lol its got good traffic due to the banners ;)

Actually not sure that banners pass of juice but only traffic which
and is why we decided to make our lists no follow as it will send traffic and
not PR... Not that 200 sites would get anything out of a PR3-4 or whatever
but as you can see that those pages no longer have PR available so that
they cant pass it off to the directories...freaking "G" i tell ya

Its cool though as those chasing it will now be paying "top dollar" for a PR link that is irrelevant
as any PR0 site can beat out a high PR link in the serps with good seo and quantity of links..
or whats now become "black market PR links" :D

    thx

I find unbelievable to get only 12 visitors per month from a 125x125 banner on their main page. The more traffic I get from the paid list, and this is the main reason I canceled the PayPal subscription for the damn banner.

offtopic: what list are you building on ? can I submit mine also there ? :D

I ment "their" banners for inclusion in the lists :)

We just started advertising our banner their and will see what kind of traffic they send this month... ;)

We actually stopped advertising on a few directory lists due to non traffic
being sent to ours as it wasnt worth it in the end

    thx

    Ok but in private ;)

but i can tell ya that we have gotten more then 12 hits in the last few days :p
and because it has low alexa 16,000 it might be worth what he is asking to have a banner..
check your awstats again or make a banner that people want to click on ...

Look in my sig for consideration in our submission lists... if its already not listed

    thx

This is absolutely irrelevant to this so called status Mikey, the way the site is set out is the only thing that gives it this style of link with Google.

If people are so bought up on the idea I'll sell them the method for $500 a time. :D

I have to agree with this as I fought with "minstrel" concerning this issue
and found he was correct in what is actually "authority" and what isnt..

How it is accomplished ... I dont know, but he offered a "baby site" that was total garbage
but was actually given this "authority status" when it shouldn't have even been in the index
so it led me to believe that its the "characteristics" in the way the site is developed that gives
it the extra urls in their index.

    thx

I know, and the fact the phpLynx script got that status with hardly any backlinks Malcolm is pretty much supportive of this. The more sites that get listed this way make it support the fact I am 100% correct on how it is achieved. ;)

Wasn't that what the voice of Google said? That sitelinks are shown when Google 'can be sure' of what the user is looking for, to make the users experience more user-friendly and give them options of exactly where on the sitelinked site they want to go.

So from this, I gather both that the number (perhaps quality, too) of links and the SEO done on a given site and pages within those sites will gain the site sitelinks. Well, it did for me, anyway:p

Google has a lot of "secrets" that aggravates the directory owners & not only.
