Directory Critic advertising benefits!

Has advertising on Directory Critic benefitted you in terms of traffic and submissions to your directory or do you advertise so your directory is seen and becomes a brand name?

If you have advertised on Directory Critic with a sitewide banner I and maybe many others would be interested to hear your comments.

We are currently advertising UK One Way Links there and get about 30 hits per week so an average 130 hits per month for $40 with a few more submission being generated recently.

However, not sure if the submissions are from users coming from Directory Critic, other directories or search engines.

 

We have in the past advertised on Directory Critic and it is what it is, a quality directory media resource

Use a 3rd party monitoring tool to see what traffic they send you converts

 

I have never "advertised" on DC, but I can tell you of all the places where I submitted directories to they have been the biggest referrer. DC is great and I am sure that a prominent ad spot will send traffic your way.

And these are my top referers going by my google analytics for the past 10 days

web-directories.ws (referral) 60 3.55%

 

Per dj stats they have on site they only had 1300 visits for the entire month of Oct. Seems kind of low for a site to get traffic from

Are you saying that directory critic don't send as much traffic as the above example?

Now back to DC... I've had a text link on the homepage for a couple of months...I think it deserved the money in terms of traffic...don't think it might be extremly useful in terms of paid submissions. Probably 95% of those browsing DC are looking for free directories

 

I actually want to try out an ad at Directory Critic, but it is full all the time. I am on a wait list for a spot to try it out in the right column. Seems to me that they should generate some traffic.

i got one of my free directory listed on directory critic recently, goodwebdirectory.com now am getting 250+ uniques daily from DC according to google analytics! that's even more than info.vilesilencer which gives me about 150+ a day!

so i guess, as far as traffic is concerned, DC is sure the best!

 

And it isn't the owner who is starting threads about DC either.

Now as to the question, I have tried some ad options on DC and it does provide some fairly decent traffic, but if your running a paid directory don't expect much conversion as most people use DC for the free directories, much the same as vilesilencer and the rest of the directory lists.

I think I should try adverting on DC since most of you speak positively about it

 

goodwebdirectory is a new free directry of mine [2-3 months old]! not popular yet! traffic is like, 200-250DC + 150-100IVS + 100-50 more, it's around 500-600 at the moment!

Directory critic gives the most traffic than any other source for my other directories also!

I actually snatched the most recent spot maybe 10 days ago. I would have to check paypal, but anyway I have received 66ish hits.

Not bad, but I can not speak as an authority with so few days into whole bit.

 

I am rather intrigue that you get 250 uniques from DC per day! If this is the case then that is truely marvellous.

The traffic we receive from DC is far lower and reading to some of the other posts here I would say they are more realistic in terms of traffic.

Maybe it is the banner we are using but it is clear that we are UK from our banner and therefore maybe this has less of an appeal to Worldwide users than to UK users!



As it is still early days we re happy to continue advertising with Directory Critic and maybe go for a more prominent position when this becomes available at top.

Recently i had a Banner on directorycritic, because of bad timing by myself, yeah i had it displaying just as the uncertainty was starting it meant that i couldn't accurately tell if it was useful.

 

This is a huge mistake which you need to correct immediately. It is absolutely necessary to follow where your business are coming from. I always follow my submission referrals through directory log sheets. You can track the source of referral in a matter of minute.

Good planning is necessary to be successful. When you do budgeting, you must do a research and find out the best advertising options.
