I think ask-dir can rank 1st/2nd or 3rd in google for any term if you dont point external links to links detail page ofcourse

If I believe you then ask-dir owner has made a blunder by paying (or building free links) for backlinks to his "directory-contest.com" entry...! Time and money wasted...isn't it guys?

 

It defeated the whole reasoning behind the contest. The initial idea was to just add a listing 'as is' leave it in your directory and then let it go. No SEO, out of directory nor on page optimization. The contest was a good idea from the start, but quickly turned into a spamfest.
