So i was searching around for good directories to submit one of my sites to and I came across this one: http://www.clasione.com/ It seems like an old directory with PR 4. looks established. I didn't find anything too wrong with it, but this caught my attention: If you do a Gogole search for clasione in the site's description you see that it says "2000-2008". That made me like the site even more. However I checked the Whois info and the site was created in August 2003. I guess clever way to make people think the site is older than what it really is. 2003 to 2009 is pretty good by itself, so why the lie?
I guess they are no different from the people that announce their new pr6 directories. Why the lie? To make more money i imagine, because although you checked, some potential submitters wont check things like that. For the same reason that womens face cream tv adverts say words like bozwellox, because it sounds like botox. Or "as if lifted" because the word lifted makes people think "facelift" It backfires though, as seen here, you have sniffed them out Nima.
1. No SE friendly detailed page; 2. No human edited, check the latest links title, horrible! such as this one: http://www.clasione.com/detail/link-4138.html 3. what's the reason for ask $298, hah!
It's no typo i think. I just came accross this one that has no description. http://www.clasione.com/detail/link-4123.html Hey look a quality description on this one.... (Ok, i was just joking) http://www.clasione.com/detail/link-1424.html Who every is approving the listings or adding them manually is doing a poor job. Isn't the template a free one that comes with PHPLD? Guess this guy spends the big bucks on other things besides the directory... Not to mention by creating this thread this directory is getting a traffic boost. Perhaps someone viewing this thread right now is paying for a review. lol
Yea...that directory is probably as old as the owner claims, but probably had a domain change along the way (not uncommon for old sites to have a domain change along the way). The guy that owns it has been around for awhile I have bought links from him and vice versa in the past, although that was several years back. He is an SEO pro and owns http://www.searchen.com/
WOW! They do like high price tags all right...$298! Another thing I thought was interesting is this: Important: Do NOT submit the exact same description to mulitple Directories. Search engines (Google) will penalize your site and the Directories for duplicate content. All descriptions, content, and articles must be unique. Definition of Unique: existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics: a unique copy of an ancient manuscript, ( copied/pasted from here I'd think but it's OK ) or a unique copy of a Directory submission. Do NOT shoot yourself in the foot and get your site penalized for duplicate content. Awesome customer service I'd suppose : Site review + reputation management!...However, if you guys browse the directory a little longer, you'd see a picnic of keyword stuffing in sites' Title! But I do like the design of the directory. If they brushed it up a little, get rid of some listings, it could actually look content-nice(...)
Digital Point will not let me have live links, sorry. Clasione.com was under another Directory name which did start in 2000. Then we moved the old listings to the new site, which most of you would be happy to hear. We fixed the problem on listing # 4138 mentioned above, please check. We are also fixing the other problems mentioned above. We are studying the other comments made here and will try to fix any problems reported to us. We are proud of our pricing and we reject more listing then any other Directory including Yahoo. So if you made it into Clasione you must have an excellent site. If you were rejected like many are, sorry. We also add many sites without any submissions. These are sites are editors search out themselves and are in our Directory to help our client / users find what they are looking for. Companies like: VW, Boeing, Ford, Arrowhead water, big brand names etc. I am not going to list everyone here. Also we do edit this and make updates and the dates show the updates. You can also read this to learn more: clasione.com/benefits-of-clasione.php Finally we plan on raising our prices and making our review process even tougher and we want to be known as the most difficult Directory to be approved for, and we do not want cheap low end listings in our high quality Directory. They are plenty of crappy junk directories you can get into for low cost and little or no review, and that is exactly what we do NOT want to be. We want to be known as the best and a Directory that is extremely picky about who we let in. I could keep going on here ....
so your plan is to charge $300 (and maybe higher) so that you have the least number of listings per month ?? The charged amount should have something to do with the quality of directory and frankly your directory doesn't have anything special. Am i missing something here?
@ nima $400 for the MOST difficult directory to get approved for! I really wonder how they would insist on that adverb "most" in the future. @ Tom Forrest Then you may want to start by removing one "Submission rules" link that leads to the same page found on both sides of the Agreement check box. Good luck to you and the directory!
Then you need to teach your editors how to spell, By the way the site doesn't load. How to edit keyword stuffed babble (who wants to read this?), And how to categorise listings. Does this site really belong in Society/People? And these are just the sites I found in your 'Top Hits'.
Yes but the submission guidelines are very helpful, reminding you that even though you've paid $300 you can't expect them to edit your description to ensure it's unique - you need to do that yourself: And they go further and actually give you a dictionary definition of the word 'unique' in case you haven't come across it before:
I do not understand your complaints and they seem like what a NERD cry baby would say. We have NO desire to talk with, email with or allow NERD jerks into our Directory. I do not think you would be qualified to work for us if you think you make good points above. What page are the spelling mistakes on? We will have them fixed. Your comment about the description is wrong and total crap (did I spell that clearly for you?) . This description is excellent and exactly what they do. Do you even know the difference between anchor text and a description? By your comments you do not. You are just the type of NERD JERK we do not want to hear from and do NOT want in our Directory. Now NERD JERK, email me directly or meet with me in person and I will clarify any concerns you have and teach you some lessons. Email: Also we are not going to watch this post for any other NERD JERK comments, if you are another one just find something more productive to do with your life. If you can make positive nice polite comments, we appreciate you and will try to fix any problems you find. Also please just email your polite comments to me directly and we will quickly have an excellent editor on our staff fix these real problems that are presented to us. Also I think we need to add more categories, so if you have a great web site and we do not have the correct category please email me directly.
I thought as much. I have no desire to be in your directory or work with you. I already said which page they were on. That's fine it's your directory. Is that a threat?
I don't see why are guys attacking this guy. He has full rights to manage his directory as he likes, and from his "latest links" page I see he is getting regular listings regardless of his price. He know how to make money from his directory unlike some "experts" here, he is not banned from Google who says what is good and what is not, so where is the fire? I remember this guy, sold him a website about 5 years ago. He payed more than he offered as highest bidder gave up. I remember he is an SEO and from what talked to him, very nice guy. Live and let live.
@ Tom Forrest Hi, I understand that you're trying to defend your directory and in your position I'd too But the members here are not "nerd jerks". Our suggestions may sound as complaints at times. So many fly by night directories are created every week (with little to no editorial standards) that many here who actually care for the industry and thrive on creating something of value do get upset...You may want to try to understand this (And I am not pointing to your directory here!) Members here have their own ways of suggesting things...their own ways of saying things. However, at the end of the day, the things that they say can only be helpful to you. They are trying to point a few things out that you might have overlooked(...) @ bizzysizzyf Nobody is attacking him I just think it'd be nice if he made a few changes to the directory as suggested by others around here. I do not know Tom Forrest nor do I have something against him or his directory.
Well it seems to me that in the end that the owner can run their own directory as they see fit. They did not request a review of it here on dp. Whether I like the directory or not is really not relevant and the prices are fine. The review for a regular listing is $38 and I have seen other directories charging much more than that. If a submitter opts for that featured listing more power to them. The directory owner is entitled to set their own prices based on the work they put into, and the value they see from their product tied into their business philosophy. If submitters don't agree with the value they don't have to submit. Personally I hope they often get the $298 for a featured listing. More submitters willing to pay those fees could only be good for all those who own quality directories.
