    Hello I'm new to directory business and I want to know how webmasters choose the main categories for a specified directory

    I want to make a directory about North Carolina ncdir. com

    choose what NC offers and make category for each, for example, shopping, shops, entertainment, hotels/lodging, real estate and more...

    Yeah -- visit lots of other directories and see what you like / what will work for you. Go for something appropriate, but no too different from existing directories otherwise you'll get lots of lazy submissions to the wrong category.

    For example, I expect to submit cookery / recipe sites under Recreation > Cooking or Home > Cooking if your site places them under (for example) Internet > Websites > Cookery, I may struggle to find the correct place.
