I tend to think that basically well........ Google has no Freakin clue what its doing with PR.... I mean please... alive directory crushes anything even close... its backlinks are as mighty as any website of importance and yet that mistake they call the google directory retains its PR8 what a joke! What can i say.... I think that they raised the bar or criteria needed to be a PR7 but then again look at the PR7 bidding directory of anons which isnt even a month old ?? So to be honest i just dont know anymore what google wants or expects other then what we already know....content is king and backlinks are Queen thx malcolm
Who....i need to buy some strong backlinks This round i will be investing into link purchases for the 50 i have plus adding content to every page possible
10000000000000% Agree with this. Google is experimenting with the new Algo -and it sucks. What contents are you talking about here my friend??? Check THIS---- The categories which had contents received very LOW PR -- but empty categories have good PR
Much like you have news and other ways of adding content or words depicting the catagory suggested and or bigger and better descriptions... http://www.biz-king.com/Computer/Web_Directories/ !ASK! has got his set up nice.....http://ask-dir.com/detail/link-590.html or sometimes you have to do it like an0n does with the yahoo ads.. http://www.directorydump.com/internet/directories/directory-of-directories/ http://livepr.raketforskning.com/?u...ctory-of-directories-link-stars-link-593.html something alone those lines....
That is what I a talking about.! All these have good contents --but where is PR? That news is not mine (means duplicate)--its Yahoo's. Still all those pages got high PR. Check -- indexsniff, linkbook, biz-dir --their homepage is almost clean --specially indexsniff and biz-dir. So they get high PR innerpages where as you have so many good listing on that page and you get WHAT ?? That is why I am saying Google's algo is behaving just the opposite --as we understood so long
im pretty sad about my directories. worked a lot on that but only PR4. however i just register a brand new domain about april 2nd, and it doesnt even have 1 single backlink, it got pr3. strange. really something wrong with google.
Wait for one year, the PR stops at 4 or 5, that's your PR BTW, any one have seen any directory which is more than one year and less than 5 years stays at PR 7 or more? I would like say this may be PR's new-site-sandbox.
The way I see it (business type websites): 1. Content 2. Age of domain 3. Traffic I noticed that most pr8 website have a lot of traffic (and more traffic), quality content and are old. Of course there are other requirements for the type of website (non-profit) you have. But I think it would help you achieve a pr8 if you have both of them in addition of what you already have.
"its the huge exponential investment that is required that is stopping most sites from ever reaching there." - This makes the most sense to me. It is very expensive to purchase (and maintain) the links needed to get PR7 or more.
I think Chirs has bought enough links for Alive Directory, 1,101,554 backlinks. Whithouse just got 1,300,000 Domain age and content is more important when they got huge backlinks.
I was unhappy to see a drop from a 5 to a 4. On the plus side, I don't actually have any paid links (of course I am paying for advertising which often involves links) . So, I am not spending any money for direct PR purposes... and if I was I'd be even more unhappy. Google gives me a kick in the pants and I guess that means it's time to get back to work!
OK. I don't know if what you say is true, but I can make an assumption about directories that are stuck to PR 6. So if you have some high PR links you are going to get a high PR also... right? hmm not exactly. The site that you are linked to must be relevant to yours and must send you some traffic also. So if a directory is linked to a let's say car industry site with PR 8 it won't get the same result as being linked to another directory with PR 8. It can go to PR 6 maybe 7. To go higher you need to get traffic through these links. But directories don't have that much traffic. So this is why most of them are stuck at PR 6. You may have the good links but with no traffic from them they count for much less. (clicked links count as votes as google says). I will be glad to read something that can explain things. Thanks.
Toolbar is still not updated..Try live pr checker..I hope on next update it bounces back to PR7. Saad
