Seem most directory stop at PR6, Alive and Aviva directory drop from 7 to 6. Only some oldest directory got PR 8, like yahoo and dmoz. John said PR8 is Dangerous, from the last year, most directory we can find all stop at PR6. Yeah, bigweblink goes to PR7 but how about one year later? Alive Directory stayed at PR7 for half a year but now dropped to PR6. So do you think google only allows PR6 to all new directory (less than 10 years)?
I've seen a website go PR0 -> PR8 in a 2 month spam. It was actually during the feb-april update of last year and it was a calling card site. upon checking on it today, it's down to a 5 though.
If it was a year ago it probably lost most of the backlinks that got them to a PR8. I don't think Alive will stay at 6.....NO WAY!...Waiting for it to goto 7.6
well, from what we see, we definitely know that getting to PR7 is very possible, and has already been done and is STILL being done. Perhaps, its the huge exponential investment that is required that is stopping most sites from ever reaching there. Coupled with G's ever-changing and ever-secretive algorithms, getting there & staying there are prob 2 very different matters
I think here ---we should make some distinction--between PAID and FREE directories. I have not yet seen a PAID directory ( except ofcourse Yahoo) --more than PR7. But Except DMOZ --there are some more PR8 FREE directories. www.lii.org/ www.seekon.com ( I see no PR for this now) http://www.webopedia.com ( it has been downgraded this time to PR7) I remember--few days back me & Jude ad a little bit with Rob discussing about it (don't know if they re-call).
