I haven't used phpld article.. I am more comfortable with a wordpress blog. I understand with blog you have more flexibility, wherein phpld article is good because everything is integrated in one database. With blogs, you have to recreate the template, so that both your directory and blog looks same. While PHPLD eases this out and one template can take care of both.

    I personally prefer WP blog.

Yes, I even agree that if you want a blog, it is better to run blog software. The article feature is just a nice way to add some additional content within your directory structure. We will be adding more function to this in the future, as well as releasing an improved version of our article script, which will integrate nicely with phpLD.

you should probably integrate your article script into phpld completely. that would be great!

    Simple rule :
Got no time use article feature,

Got some time to play around with other blogs use : blogs over article feature.

    Just depends on ur preferences.

Yes, and really the article feature is NOT a blog. :)
(but wait, there's more to come, though trying to make something as good as wordpress would be reaching a bit far. But there is more to come in this area this Summer)

Pardon my ignorance but on the topic:

Is this the script that puts a box underneath your category title?

At the moment you can put in a description in PHPLD but it doesn't look nice.

I hope so I'm looking for that, a nice place whre I can put in 250-500 word description for each category.

    Thanks

Agreed! I would love to add keyword rich content under each category.
I have phpld 3.1. I wonder if I already can? but am clueless.

Hopefully someone here will have answer, albeit like eating a whale you'll have to take 1 small bite at a time lol. I'd aim to re-write 1-3 categories a day. Would take months to a year but onc edown watch out...

The article script puts your article in selected category..
    E.g; http://www.bqtm.com/blogs
Look at the wordpress theme article below.

    No, not only the title...

    http://www.yhay.com/Computers_and_Internet/Web_Directories/

Personally I'm not that much into blogging so I really welcome the article feature. Just the fact that you are able to insert content-rich articles into all your categs and subcategs should benefit your directory

    That's pretty cool.

You can choose which article pages you want to put the "Digg" button after you submit the article to Digg?

    Thanks!

The "Digg" button does not come as a standard feature. It is a mod created by someone else...if I remember well I found it on phpld forums
