Hi I sometimes get these email replies "Thank you for choosing http://www.********.Net/ for your directory submission needs. We are working hard to provide the best possible review of all sites. It is important to us that we find a good fit for your site within our directory. The following is the site info you submitted: ***** Please confirm your Submission at http://www.**********.com/confirm.html" No the confirmation address is different from the one the site was submitted to. I also have to copy and paste that url into a browser. I'm thinking that there is no way this can tell what url I have submitted and its just a promotional trick to get me to visit the second site. I'm not that bothered but it could save me a bit of time. Do I need to go to this other site or not? James
I don't think you need to confirm it....its just a way to increase traffic to the second site...lets hear words from some directory owners too
I hired someone to submit my site to a certain number of directories. The list belonged to him. I got several of those "submission received/pending status" emails. I believe my site was submitted to a directory network whose owner, Robin something, happens to be a web developer or something like that. Like you, I copied and pasted the link to the browser to visit the second site, since it wasn't hyperlinked. Unfortunately it was a form of unrelated advertisement that got me demoralized about the submissions as a whole.
This one tactic used by a bulk crap directory network owner of this forum. They do this to have their fake alexa increased on their so called seo portal.
I have had a couple of these that were in fact webpage viruses... I no longer click on confirmation emails... If I did in fact submit, they have the option to approve or disapprove... I do not care one way or the other... I do get another one recently that keeps saying my submission was rejected but I know for a fact I never submitted... As stated above, its just a lure to get traffic... Very pathetic...
I would only verify my address if the site 1 - told me that they would be doing so ahead of time and 2 - directed me to the same site that I had submitted to. If they were honest and simply said something like, "Oh by the way, I also have this directory and invite you to submit you site to"; I might give it a go. Otherwise, I'd write off both sites.
