Hi Pete, I hope you had a nice holiday, I've added your directory to this list of UK directories. I was going to submit my UK directory but apart from not finding a suitable category I was put off by the alphabetical sorting, I'd rather pay extra for a featured link on the category first page. Also I'm still interested in working with you.

I was wanting to start a directory.

Does anyone know where i can get, or even purchase a cheap scrip for it?

    Thanks

You are missing a very important feature, a "Search Function".
It is a must to have for directories.

Also, you can have a category for "UK Directories" so we can "spam" it :p

I think starting your directory off with a negative statement like this is not a good idea, espcially because it is not so clear, what is redirecting directory submissions mean?

You are trying to say the your directory is search engine friendly right? In fact 99% of the new directories I see released are all SEF.

    Thanks guys some great advice

Adding sections is very easy, so I will add a UK and US directories page.

Featured listings on page 1, I like that idea.

    A search function, another cracker.

Styed, now I am back from my hols I am looking to work with a few directory owners, by way of mutually advertising.

One thing I am considering is 5 boxes on the directory homepage, that businesses bid to fill.

Just like to say thanks to the people who took time post advice, it was greatly appriciated.

You are more than welcome :)

One more thing I will like to suggest is:
On first load of your directory page, all pages appear to have "PHPSESSID" with them. So If you can remove it, it will really help.

I am not sure if that helps in SEO or not (Though I think it does) but still its better not to have them.

There is an easy way to remove them. If you cant find, let me know (by PM) & I will find it in my docs.
