Directory Advertising: Taking it to the Streets with Postcards

    Hi,

I am getting ready to launch my first offline marketing strategy and decided to start with postcards.

Side 1 will be about the valuable resources of the directory for visitors and also the benefits for advertisers.

Side 2 is another marketing tool with nice unique designs related to this field on CP apparel and accessories which of course has the directory URL on all items.

Since I do not have a general directory and my target market is non-web people, I was wondering if anyone has any comments, ideas, something I could be missing, or any suggestions for this very small niche?

Too big to upload here so here it is:

    Thanks!

I like the look and idea, but to be effective you will need to have a VERY targeted mailing list and be willing to mail this repeatedly over time to that list. Even then this may not be cost effective for a directory.

I know a bit about using mailouts.

    Thanks Mikey and dargre

Thanks swedal. I totally agree with you.
"Highly targeted mailing list"- I got.
"Mail repeatedly over time"- Will have to se what I can do depending on budget. But you are right.

I think I found a pretty good deal online for printing. Then with stamps a bit more but not terrible. I will take it slow and see what kind of results I get.

I should get them printed in a couple days after I double check again for any changes i would like to make to it.

    Thanks!

How about you add design by Serg and put his picture so he gets more girls when he comes where you live? :)

Seriously, I think it is a nice move. Let us know results if possible.

I planned pencils and lighters for chemistry students and professors to promote local chemistry forums, but never made that site :)

Great idea, could be very effective, but as mentioned above "targeted audience" is the most important factor.

Last few days Ive been talking to a rep. from a company who which delivers small fliers and post cards to a very high populated business area. Basically same as the daily coupons and promotional fliers your get at home, this is just business related post cards. Price I think is very cheap $100 for 5k fliers, they aren't delivered all at once, I am having them do 2.5k week 1 then 2.5k week 3, looking to see what kind of changes I have in week 2. If this is successful if I get my money back, then ill be doing this on a larger scale with 100k fliers, and hopefully double that and promotional items.

You may want to mail two or three different creatives to test response. Postage cost is the real obstacle to this approach. You need to mail thousands to get a few conversions.

? OK seems worthy of a trial, why not a E - Post Card to your site ? in that have send this card to a freind from your site in a similar way people have tell a friend type links. ?

just thinking out loud to maximise the campaign.
