Well, directories are worth the money but...not all directories. You need to find directories which has good SERP, good traffic, good traffic in your category and things like that. I hope It`s helpful for you.
I would spend time in submitting to free directories and will also submit to some paid directories if they can offer deep links.
directories that offer deep links are worth looking out for - but remember, it's not necessarily the amount of directories you submit to, it is the quality
there are lot of free directories and some are good quality as well. only look for paid directories if they are niche directories, established, and seo friendly (check to see whether the inner pages are indexed or not and whether they have any pages rank of their own).
Directories links are not as beneficial as they once were. Google now gives less weight to links from most directories. There are less than 10 directories that actually help much. If you have the money and/or time it may be worth submitting to more directories, but it likely won't get you rankings by only doing that.
Any free directory is worth doing if you have the time. Just make sure that you have a solid SEO anchor text string to submit. And there is no Page Rank benifit to doing it.
IF u have enough time then work with directories and do not expect much benefit from it. For payed can get BL. I have some dir list better take it
most directories that I've seen dont index their directory lol. Even though they have a front page PR6 the second page with your link on it will be N/A
well not all directories are paid........but if they are paid then you need to make sure that you are spending on the right directories which will get you some higher conversion rates... There are also directories like DMOZ and somewhat more which are free and help bgetting ranking on the search engines.......
