why do you think it's not related with algo. change?

i think google has made a ig change with its algo.

most of the directories are effected from this

I think google penalty Paid directories. So free directories have no problem. And this problem should be noted well in DP

Everything starts from zero(0) and grows to becomes "big". Small directories today may be considered "big" tomorrow. So I dont think directory indutry is just limited to Yahoo, DMOZ, and google only. It does not make any sense to me.

Google penalized only some directories and not all directories

After the Google penalization,I got more pages indexed by Google bot for one of my directory.

Those directories will remain bright which have high editorial integrity.

they will last. As long as people come up with innovative ideas to make theres different then the others.
I saw someone post here once that Niche directories are going to be the next big thing. And i think they will..

I also think its more about G algo. behind the scenes. G's PR update is way too late, and it could really be due to the change in their algo.

In fact, I'm almost convinced that's the case. What I wanna know now is what exactly the change and filters they implemented. That would give us understanding and think of new approach for Google SEO.

I am trying to find an answer to this - What is a good directory?

One that just depend on Natural traffic?
    or Pay for AdWords only?

If it is Free, where do you promote and how can you make money?

If We Talking About The Way Directories Now, Then It Worth Zero.

Someone Should Come Up With New Idea.

I do believe quality web directories with resources (good content) have a pretty nice future.

I could see niche specific directories that make it well known that they do not allow just any site. The cost would be for the review only.

There's a directory for my state that I could see being useful and not being hit by Google. I wish it were mine, but it's not.

Otherwise, I think directories have a very questionable future.
