Bid Directories are Great. I have my most popular directory LinkTerritory.com here is a list of my others in rank of popularity Biddingdirectoryweb.com 1dollarurl.com
http://landudno.co.uk is in the top 1,000,000 sites according to the "completely accurate" Alexa stats
Talking of traffic, would it ever be possible to display the stats from within your hosting, awstats, whatever, i cant remember the name, but on your directory as their updated? Then, for anyone interested they could see the actual statistics.
Around 150-200 Uniques a day for each. I am not sure if it is enough for a directory. What is the total for a normal promoted directory, any idea?
Thats not a lot. My bid directory does better with no monthly costs, it just comes by itself from all the $$$ i spent at the start. Also my new paid directory is at that level and i have yet to begin marketing.
Good luck with your sites. Do you do anything specific? I mean you won't get any traffic by jut building the site and leaving it there. BTW, which directories are you talking about?
www.zorg-links.com content and permanent advertisements, and of course the brand brings stable traffic. The new directory is in my profile.
Zorg Links is a well promoted directory as far as I know. Anyway, I have a lot to learn and develop my directories, what is the most accurate way to check the traffic. When I check from different places my directories go up to 450 a day???
I use awstats and use analytics for search engine referrals. Analytics is inaccurate as only counts those that use javascript...
I rely on what people tell me... I've had several people tell me that they get traffic from KingBloom Directory. Hearing this from real people is worth more to me than any stat.. Of course we do track our data and monitor stats all the time. Traffic is consistent and growing, 3 years now with growth, month after month!
It would be better if we could all provide 100% genuine proof though of traffic, if peopole think that uneccessary then submitters may see our directories as uneccessary. Every single person, including myself can say we get traffic, and state a few figures, but showing it is much better, and as stated before, us receiving traffic and then sending it out again to other sites should not be confused. And lets not go by the alexa rank, its easily manipulated, and no getting your friends to come forward in a post saying yeah so and so's directory sends me traffic. Unless it does, and can be shown properly, and back to the old point of traffic is nothing on its own except used bandwidth and a few figures. Traffic alone does not mean business for us or listed sites, its the movements on the site and what they lead to one there.
I'm not boasting about Alexa, and I do not have friends boasting either.. Most everyone who lists with me tells me; they get traffic... Nothing better than a testimonial from actual end users. The proof is in the words of those using the directory... I could produce graphs all day long that tout proof, but that will never compare to people who have no reason to claim traffic, other than to say, it's really happening. I for one know I get traffic from my site myself for one of my amazon stores that produces real revenue. There must be a reason why people keep submitting... I have a return rate of over 90% with current listers... That's just nuts... And new people every day. I have not had one single day without a directory submission since day one. I've never missed a day updating/approving listings either.. There must be some value in a directory if people keep listing in it. The proof is in the words of those that list. There is no better "100%" statistic than that IMO.
does all the posted site in one directory are surely visited even if the directory site has a lot of traffic?
No i dont mean you personally Mia, not anyone specifically, just thinking about a decent approach to providing traffic statistics other than people just announcing that they get traffic, its a very random and obvious suggestion that a site gets traffic, even a terrible site will, unless your blocking the search engines. When you get genuine end users who can genuinely announce that they get traffic from your directory that great, their obviously happy with it and getting results. Possibly your prices and other things will come into why people keep coming back to you, your obviously doing many things right. I would say that if a visitor can see the difference between a site that has been submitted and a site that may have freely been added by the owner then that may help them in making their decision to come back often and submit new sites, as if you see plenty of submissions often enough, and you see your competitors gettng listed there, then its going to make you want to be listed there too. Obviously in your case Mia, it makes sense that if your sending traffic out to them, they will be always ready to submit their new sites to your directory, and probably visit often just in general to see whats going on.
Gotcha... Well, it's really hard to tell or even get 100% or even close to 100% given 99% of what we rely on is what a directory owner says.. Perhaps what these directory review sites really need is a section that shows actual user reviews and feedback.. Of course, like you said, even that can be manipulated. I kinda like to leave it up to the end user who is generally smart enough to do their own research. A search on DP for a keyword "directoryname", can generally give a potential user enough information about a directory by way of other's input, aside from just the directory owner... A directories reputation among its peers and end users ought to play into its value just as much as any stat. It is great, and I am humbled by that.. I have had people say this publicly here and at other places, not just directly to me... And It is great! Both for the directory, and those that list... It's what we have set as our main goal from the get go.. Not to be the biggest, not to have the highest PR, but to deliver people traffic both from SE's and the directory itself. Well , I am sure that certainly helps.. We've always kept them quite low... Only raised them once, and have been told we could raise them by 75% or more and people would still pay.. I've thought about it a lot and have chose to keep a consistent price structure, and a low price, both on entry level and premium listings... I would say our most popular are the mid-range listings, with the Super Premiums, then the low end ones... You can't go wrong with a price point that is not too penal. If you get one lead or hit from a 2 dollar investment, that is better than no leads from a $50 listing... There is really nothing to lose. However, we do not offer free listings anymore, which I think ups the value on the directory by keeping it cleaner and more focused.. Even at a paltry 2 bucks, people are more apt to list their site in a proper category, and list a decent site as well.. Free listings tend to generate all kinds of useless crap. We do reject submissions.. Payment does not guarantee inclusion... I think that is something that needs to be weighted as well when considering a directories worth. True... But there are 100 other reasons people submit to KingBloom as well...
