Is it worthwhile to submit to directories that have a PR of 0 or 1?

If they are free - then yes..

If they are paid - look at the directory owners reputation - if he is Jeff(Aviva) or Chris (alive) then grab the oppurtunity before price goes up..
Consider bigweblinks - Pr0 - still receives lot of submissions - only because of the name Chris.

The answere would be, who owns that directory and how much time and effort and $$$ he/she poured into it.

PR0 now, but wont be on the next update, though in some rare cases it still becomes a PR0, this is because of the "owner" factor.

But yes, do submit to them now while it's free or cheap, never know what they will become.

Other way to see is by using the site:www.command.com or just type in the url (www.site.com) and see where they had been linked or use Yahoo! explorer to find the backlinks.

if he is Jeff(Aviva) or Chris (alive) .... ;)

    ----

Doesn't matter whats the PR when you know someone can be trusted out there. Many directory owners these days are serious abt their PR n promotions. few ex. forplex, dump, gii ... uhmm.... lemme make a list now - Brb.

It can only help is the way I feel for now unless some good evidence is shown to me of a directory being treated as a link farm.

even if your site were listed on a link farm how could that hurt?

if being listed on a link farm could hurt a site in search engines wouldn't savvy individuals be submitting their competition to link farms?

It could be owned by anyone, as long as the directory is well maintained, well-promoted and has good quality listings, why not?

if its free & then being optimistic that he could be the next jeff or chris , i dont think it will hurt in any way , SE's wont penalise you for adding to PR0 :p

im a pr0 feeling like a monday but someday it'll be saturday nite :p

sure it is worthwhile, pr0 backlinks are backlinks anyways. worst thing that can happens is remaining pr0...

Bigweblinks receive submission --because it is going to be PR7 in 3/4 days time. Those who don't know ---go and grab a position there --quickly --

Infact --by link value-- it is the second strongest directory now after Alive.:p

What's that saying? From acorns grow oaks?

Starting at the ground level with a PR0 directory is not a bad thing. Most of them will go nowhere, but a few might just develop into providing a good PR backlink.

All the internet is a web, all links are potentially where your next big order might come from,

Untill I started using analytics packages, I never realised that directories also do give a trickle of traffic, very small , but hey, most traffic is welcome
