http://www.directoriessuck.com/ #5) Worst placement of advertisement. There might be subcategories coming.
You tell me Mikey, but the general population perceives it that way and they speak the truth which I certainly accept and appreciate. No problem here
Yes Mikey it has the most suckable design that would fit, a qbc, and more. Btw go get your lunch and have a nice meal.
Design Firstly its unique which is alway great. Page Structure - brilliant. A right sidebar, good space for main page content. Colors - whilst its not the most appealing colors in the world, the gray and black work well. the text is clear and easy to read. navigation - again, fine, easy to use graphics & header. - good as it matches the theme of the directory - arts/oriental etc i dont like the image used in your avatar. it looks out of place. Submit page I checked the submit page for prices to check the sites value. The prices look fine but i didnt like the submit page. The form is dull and blank, some CSS may make it nicer. I also didnt like the jumbled up text at the top and under each paid option. Numbered of bulleted list would be much better. Content I noticed on the latest links page you are adding lots of high PR sites to populate the directory. Thats ace as i hate empty categories. Please note in IE7 the design of that page is messed, text is a bit jumbled amongst the PR images. The rest of the site looks nice, i didnt have time to check your category structure. Good additional content like the google tools etc
Wow I am very impressed and very flattered and I don't deserve that. I will look at the other things thats needed to be done and it is still a very long shot of being what you call an established one. Thank You but it still sucks but I appreciate the nice word.
It's nice having something to do when your bored more of a hobby than a business. Besides, finding good sites to add makes a directory grow. Maybe in 3 years I can have at least about 10,000 listings and who knows by that time I can be called an established directory. For now, I will just keep improving my sucking directory.
i've got a great idea! u shld design a script that allows visitors to submit sites and after your review if found suitable, the directories get billed the submission fees!
That's a good one. But at Dirsensei I have something planned already made some changes to the directory guidelines and more coming overall. It's just a start but definitely I'll take out some useless mods though it's a waste of money but it will be a start. Still trying to find a way for everything that has been there. Lol. I am trying to take that off in mine but still have to research more on some things. There are lots of things to be done and I think now is the best time to do it.
Read my post here and you will see a few that have major errors in their coding. These stuck a little at the moment and are most probably even damaging their own search engine rankings. Here's the thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=4446131 I don't own a general web directory, but still write the post just in case the directory owners do not know about their directory errors. So I am helping them by writing that post.
Why not ? But I'd be more a little bit of cautious now than ever before. I'll see to it that websites I submit have the drive to improve their site not just adding MODS and specifically I dont say that they are useless they are ok. Take a look at fashion for example and seasonally you have one coming out in bulks and if you apply these in your directory the next thing you know you have a christmas tree. The best thing is to grow thing at a time and we had a mistake to correct that not everything can be attained by brute force. We have lessons to learn from all what's happening now and if you have the time for improvement while waiting for some clean air to come back why not do it. Maybe this is whats is all about.
