Directories - Reciprocal links or no reciprocal links?

    Hi

I'm relatively new to general directories and was hoping for some insight into reciprocal links. Is it better to not require them and get more submissions or make them mandatory and get fewer sites but more backlinks?

Thanks for all the replies! After reading some of the responses I think this requires a little more depth.

Same question but recip links in free submission directories VS paid directories.

MODS - I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, if not please move it to the the correct category.

    Thanks!

personally, think that requiring reciprocal links kinda 'cheapens' the directory. Besides, link exchanges are also viewed with less value by G than in one-way links. I've removed all my reciprocal link options in my directories.

I agree --it seems devaluing Premium paid directories like yours. I'll consider doing so after I set up all of mine. Presently I have prices same as regular links thats another way of saying No-Thank you to reciprocal links.:)

Recips are more trouble than they're worth and devalue the directory.

Could not agree more! I just ignore directories that require reciprocal links. :)

I guess a 3-way link exchange would be more recommended if someone really wants an exchange.

Well..on one of my directory i do not have the opton for Reciprocal links. Saves the mess.

But ever saw Jude's directories. :D I love the pricing that used to be there on some of his directories before. It was like: (example)
    Regular: $10
    Reciprocal: $20

That's another way of saying "No Thanks....Shoo Away" :p

Many of guys here do not prefer reciprocal links....specially when you have a premium paid directory!.
