Directories are doing well - the latest directory PR stats

Here are the latest stats of our PR, based on the 10,000+ directories at Web-Directories.ws.

The following table is a comparison of PageRank before and after the latest update.

The number of directories in our sample has grown by 14% so anything above that can reasonably be considered an increase. There seems to be a particular significant increase in PR5 and PR7 directories. PR2, PR3, PR4 and PR6s stayed about the same. The percentage amount of PR0s decreased and the number of N/A directories has decreased substantially.

I realize that these numbers cannot be considered a perfect statistical sample as many factors are involved.
For more information please see the post in our directory SEO blog.

I don't agree that you can judge how well the directory industry is doing based on PR stats, it makes no sense to me. PR would have to mean something in the first place which it really doesn't.

Those stats could also change a lot in the next few weeks, plus they pale in comparision to the percentages that directories are down over the last few updates. Plus there is the issue of PR missing from so many inner pages. I could go on and on but I think I got my point across.

I should also add my opinion is that the industry has a lot of good directories but because 95% of new directories are garbage it is bringing the whole industry down.

Nice, helpful data. Thanks, CanadianEh. Rep added for some nice work.

Would you by any chance have any data on which direction inner-page PRs have been going? Those inner pages, of course, are the ones most of us are submitted to.

I'm not sure if PR is the true analysis in all sense. But i just came here to appreciate your work on the stats! Really good job!

And yes, with all that happened between Google and Directories in last few months, i think this is a positive thing we are seeing!

The directory is http://www.usa.gov/ which is a directory of US government info - It is not what I would call a real directory as it does not accept submissions from regular sites.

Oh, ok. I thought it would be google with pagerank 10. One question. Do you have any plans to add more statistics about directories to your site?
