Directories and SERPS

    While checking one of my directories at Google by typing site:mydomain.com I found there were 12,400 results listed. Just for my knowledge, does this mean pages indexed? or does it mean something else?

    So what happenes when you see one number one day (something pretty high ...REALLY high) and the next day something obsurd compared to the day before and low.

    Think those other pages are still indexed and google just isnt showing them?
