I am in the process of making all of my sites search engine friendly throgh mod-rewrite but theres is something fishy. If I go to www.mydomain.com it has a pagerank of 4, but if I go to www.mydomain.com/directory it says unranked.

Should I go back to the other ways or what? I don't want to lose the 3pr.

/directory has not been assigned a PR yet.

I am confused was your directory on the main domain first? You normally get higher rank on top domain and you may not have gotten any ranking yet for the trailing page. If you link it from the top domain you will most likely get some PR on the next update.

You should get some backlinks to /directory - directly

if you have created /directory after the last page rank update, you have to wait until the next page rank update

    Fair enough,

but say my domain is www.mydomain.com/category/Title, do I have to put backlinks for all of the url's or mydomain.com/category is enough to get me high PR on the trailing titles?
