No internal pages PR, as most of us, lost it. DirDawn have few internal pages, with PR. http://www.dirdawn.com/submit.php (PR3) http://www.dirdawn.com/Computer-Internet/ (PR3) http://www.dirdawn.com/Health/ and few more, but overall no page rank for sub categories. Some link pages got PR as well. http://www.dirdawn.com/detail/link-1.html
Good thoughts as always Jim. But I beg to differ a little bit with you regarding the age of domains. Directory submission still works wonders for a start-up. One of my friend who is starting to blog asked my advice regarding link building. He opened his first blog in the end of May. I advised him just to keep submitting in each and every directory that was being announced for FREE submission here on DP. He religiously did it. Now his site got PR3 just for doing that. But - once his site gets older and he tries to get more ranking trust from Google, he must diversify his link-building strategy so as to sustain his site from loosing trust. Over-all, it is still good-old strategy of putting quality content and try to find as many quality links as possible from different sources. Directory links are just one of the many sources of link-building. Tnx
Its a really weird update for me, some of my directories stayed and one new niche directory went up. But one bid directory went down in PR and another seems to have been penalised to a PR0.
As someone else pointed out to me in a post, Google not only stripped internal directory pages of page rank, they de-indexed them. You can come to the conclusion that the de-indexing of internal pages in directories is causing sites that had submitted links to numerous directories in the past to lose a notch or two in page rank. People are practically losing maybe hundreds of backlinks overnight because of this algo change.
HI My directory stayed the same.. and my mates directory serps and pr dropped.... not sure why tho. Tom
come2mauritius.com retained its PR3 and several inner pages got PR1,2 and 3 (don't touch it much, just try keeping the links as relevant as possible to the island of mauritius). cheaptraveldir.com went from 0 to 3 with several inner pages getting PR2
night-directory.com stayed the same (pr4), however it did gain some other inner page ranks which should help other submitters increase their pr. I was expecting it to move to a 5 but that didnt happen...for some reason.
I was looking at some recommended directories in this forum (e.g., Alive) and noticed yesterday the the PR mentioned in the forum posting was higher than what my browsers Google tool bar showed. I wondered about that until reading this thread. Now it makes sense. Just goes to show you have to verify before posting to the directory if PR is an important reason for doing so.
One of my directory was really hit hard. So I have renovated it completely and made a new ground up script specially for it to stand out and offer something more unique
you are naive really, pr1 to pr4 is easy, pr4 to pr5 is hard, pr5 to pr6 is very hard, pr6 to pr7 is impossible.
